If it is OTA update, then subscriber should be able to trigger the update manually, isn't it?

It should be, if not mistaken there is a Update button in "About Phone" for the original firmware.
(Lek, can you help to verify this....??)
My Modded_firmware doesn't carry this feature anymore.

Yes i'm with G1 (German version) and i have my 3G and wifi running quite consistently. Tried the on off phone, still not getting anything. The System Update in the About Phone just says 'You're system is currently up to date'.. No button or anything to force download it. sad.gif

Hmm... German G1 came out the Cupcake update first before the US G1. So it should be circulating around even more longer than the US version.
Maybe your G1 already come with the latest update??

What is your kernel version?
Is your kernel, firmware and Baseband version same as your Celcom-friend?

Heh... think Google-Android team having hard time to maintain a bunch of new Droids which are coming out "too" soon (Samsung, SE...).
The more advance they develop for Android, the bigger internal memory it needs to accommodate it.
As you can see our Prime Optimus (G1) is the best, yet it lag of internal memory compared to Magic and Hero....

So the latest Donut/Future updates might need more trimming process for Optimus ^^. Yet, T-mobile haven't confirmed this yet!

Anyway, just to inform u all, there was another ota update yesterday Android 1.5 build CRC37 sent over via Celcom to my friend. So what i did was i took my friends SIM card and stick it to my phone so i got it to install on my phone as well. Hence it kinda proved my suspicion that ota update may probably only work via Celcom where i am because it didnt come in thru my Maxis. ..

I am now a happy user, and probably should switch my mobile operator. tongue.gif BTW, thanks everyone for your help too esp Grazy.

Heh! Guess the the stupid Masix sparing too much bandwidth to their "signature" product iBoon gua!!

Since the 3Gs launched, I noticed that my speed/bandwidth quite unstable, need to reboot the band radio in order to get some decent speed! *Sigh*

Maybe you are rite, time to change provider! cool2.gif

How's ya friend's SiaoCom 3G, speedy? Ps: I know it's kind of subjective to ask this kind of question, but just want to find out your friend or maybe yours general opinion)
