Hello everyone. This is my first post and its great to know that there are many G1 users in M'sia i can learn from. Anyway, i just got mine frm SG few weeks ago and i have yet to receive the 1.5 update. FYI, my friend and i bought our phones at the same time, he's on Celcom and i'm on Maxis. He got the update, i did not. Is the OTA updates limited to a certain network provider only?

Yes i'm with G1 (German version) and i have my 3G and wifi running quite consistently. Tried the on off phone, still not getting anything. The System Update in the About Phone just says 'You're system is currently up to date'.. No button or anything to force download it.

Anyway, just to inform u all, there was another ota update yesterday Android 1.5 build CRC37 sent over via Celcom to my friend. So what i did was i took my friends SIM card and stick it to my phone so i got it to install on my phone as well. Hence it kinda proved my suspicion that ota update may probably only work via Celcom where i am because it didnt come in thru my Maxis. ..

I am now a happy user, and probably should switch my mobile operator. BTW, thanks everyone for your help too esp Grazy.

He's not even on 3G! Prepaid xpax old sim card.. hahaha..

I just received a notification at lunch today of an Android 1.6 update on my unrooted TMobile phone which is 14MB in size. OTA via Maxis. Have not run/installed it yet tho'.

Software update info:
- seach map by voice, get transit and walking directions...
- seach your phone .. with Quick Search box for Android
- new Android Market
- connect to VPN

I don't know the reliability of telco updates though because for the past two updates i had (Cupcake and prior Cupcake) i got it from my xpax line .. and nothing on maxis. Which caught me by surprised yesterday afternoon also because it also racked up my phone bill to RM100++. I don't know how OTAs are charged by maxis but i don't remember having my xpax credit running out when i updated Cupcake (which was 40MB) !
