is it not advisable to move the ham cage from one area to another? as in, during the day i put it in my room, night time put outside bcoz my room mate is a light sleeper.... and since i dun hav budget to get a silent wheel yet, i hav to move the cage in and out my room everyday, id like to hav oppinions regarding this....

hahha.. but my hamster is naughty.. always walk here and there.. afraid it walk away from my room..lol

my Toph lets me pat him now...but sometimes he appears scared when i pat/kacau him longer and starts biting the cage [?wan2 escape], huhu it's just his 3rd day with me... sometimes when he bites the cage...i somehow feel like its his way of he's channeling his fear. huhu...im worried of him... is 3days not enough for him to be used to his home? at times he looked like he's extra cautious whenever he go in/out tunnel/toilet....[put one front leg out, snif2, another front leg out, sinf2, then go back in very fast! like startled...but there wasnt any sound/movement from the environment].... haihs....toph2...

oya jamien, toph takes food from my finger few times just now...got step up my finger oso...is dat a good sign? however after that, he kept trying to avoid me...less panicky though...

haha.. ur hamster still new wit everything... and his new hommie..

You should leave your hammy alone for the first 1 week so that he won't get stress from moving from the pet shop to his new home. If your hammy get too stress it can cause wet tail disease and die from it.

For the time being just let him be in his new home.

You can't expect him to get tame in a few days right? I can tell you that some hammy can be tamed quickly or some might take a while. Just be patience.

Try calling him first before touching him. This way he get to know your voice and won't get startled easily.

Nowadays I will call my hamsters by their names first then slowly touch them or take them out. Got bitten before as once I touch my syrian, Puffie, and she got startled and bit me to protect herself.

I think it's best to keep him in an area than moving him room to room. But I think once in a while should be ok.

As long as your not moving house or back to hometown then it is fine. Then he will need a few days to get used to the new environment again.

ohh....ok ok... then can hamster tolerate places where people talk almost most of the time? feel quite worried when there are ppl talking3 while toph is sleeping... does it affect him? huhu....sometimes i feel like im a bit paranoid....huuuu~

I think they will adapt to the new environment with the noise.

Sangels' TV is next to the tanks and she watch TVB series all the time

Bean lives near the TV and the place were we often walk. She doesn't care at all...sleep like a diva. Behave like a diva also. We call her also don't want to bother XD

when you all said..."finish his meal [everyday]".... how is dat? hamster fin their meals everyday? or do we have to put food for 1 day consumption? i don get it...

meaning i put the dry food in the container then in a day it finish. of course i can agak2 la how much food to put

I was telling nezu that my oreo doest seem to be bigger so she was asking if he was eating properly (finish its food or not)

Bean is not eating much of the dry food wor...when we put other things than the staple she will finish it but not the staple itself. Quite a bit of wastage.

Anyway, All my pets live in the living room, where all the guest go and the big TV is on till 11 at night. They all adapted well and is not concerned about the noise of company. So don't worry, Toph will be fine. He's a tough boy.

@sophie: My ferro likes his staple but Roche prefers other stuff. Like fruits and vege and mealworms. So each with his own preference lo. My staple food already used a few months but not yet finish. Have to restock from Fluff next time though when I go and if they got sell Prestige. Should still have enough for 1 month.

cute leh... hhehhe but they said its rare...anyone ever see that kind of hammy aa? hmm...Toph really likes to sleep la...sometimes feel very tempted...wanna kacau him but then will feel guilty kacau him sleep heheh...

i have few questions here...

1) say i wan to umm...go somewhere by plane...is there any way i can bring my hamster onboard? been wandering for years...hehe..

2) can hamster stand long road journeys? like....6hours drive for example?
