brouhahaha...just saw the devteam update on their site too...time to update

Added on November 23, 2008, 10:02 amhmm... before I hit the update button...I just realised no one has mentioned about third party app compatibility with FW2.2. Anything on this? Any apps not working etc from Cydia?

mm... mapping out what I've done with my phone thus far before updating hehe...

Any apps even those I bought from the App store temporarily not properly working with FW2.2 is going to be a bummer.

Not tested for apps. Bcoz, the developer itself must update their apps.

Yea... that's the bummer part....waiting for the app developers to update their software. Am updating now. Fingers crossed that no obstacles arise.

Ok newbie question here: I've looked at and successfully followed the jailbreaking walkthroughs posted before, but that was with a fresh/brand new iP3G.

If I were to upgrade to 2.2, would I have to wipe my phone and everything again? Or do I just upgrade regularly via iTunes, then jailbreak with content intact?

Sorry, just a little confused...

Except for that. Those are not under jb applications. All apps from iTunes app store will also remain intact. Only the jb apps and settings will be wiped.

Ah, that's no big deal then sweat.gif

So all I'd have to do is backup my jb apps with AptBackup and then upgrade my phone, then jailbreak...right?

err...AptBackup is a jb app so I'm not sure if that will fly well.

To be on the safe side though, manually back up your phone. Refer to iPhone for Dummies sticky; Item #15.

Okay, I guess I'm not too concerned about the JB apps, just mostly my contacts and SMS stuff. Shall back those up first (although I'm using DiskAid instead of SSH)...

Again, sorry for the noob questions; just that the instructions to JB seem to indicate that you have to wipe your phone clean for best results. However, I was wondering if how I plan to go about JB 2.2 are correct?

Aka: Step 1. Upgrade via iTunes, Step 2: JB Quickpwn2.2, Step 3: Reinstall all JB apps = correct?

uhuh that's about right...however...make sure you determine how best to JB though according to your phone type:

Thanks for all the help and advice, mate. I've got an unlocked SG iP3G so I guess things should be cool? I previously JBroke it with just Quickpwn2.1...

Shall wait for the tutorial then.

Hey no prob. All should be good then since urs is an unlocked unit. Fairly easy to do. I'm just about to finish pawn+jb FW2.2 myself. No problems yet.

Spoke too soon... I've successfully updated to FW2.2. Then I ran QuickPwn with option of installing Cydia only. Successful. Now... did I forget something or is it weird that after all is done, Cydia doesn't show up on my iPhone3G... hmm.gif

Added on November 23, 2008, 12:21 pmI'll try installing an app from iTunes Store to see whether a refresh will solve the anomaly...

Added on November 23, 2008, 12:28 pmMy aifontriji is trying to act cute...not working. Will have to restore and redo it all...

Just a note though, maybe my problem has to do with 3rd party jb application, Categories. I wanted to take everything out of the folders I had set up prior to updating FW2.2 but I didn't. That is probably why my Cydia icon is not showing up. I'm taking a wild guess here...
