bugger... I'm kind of pissed. Been sitting here waiting for the whole restore process to go through. I tried restore with backup via iTunes but Cydia still doesn't show up. Looks like I have to do a 100% clean restore with no auto backup or last resort to DFU but that'll have to wait. Life outside is beckoning. I'll have to go do other things. Oh well...

Did u put Cydia in a folder via categories? And after u restore, did u restore the phone from itunes backup? If yes then there's your answer.

Restoring info from itunes will restore the settings from last backup i.e cydia hidden in folder. So to unhide Cydia, u must restore as new phone.

P/S - Updating mine. This gonna take the whole day to get the phone up and running like before. And I think there's no impact to the 3rd party apps since its not a major update to the system files and framework.

Anyone who hasn't updated to FW2.2 and re-pwned + re-jb their phones, make sure you have unhidden all icons by Bossprefs Poof and released all apps from folders created using Categories BEFORE updating your firmware. This would I guess apply to any FW version update if you have previously pwn+jb your phone before. Failure to do so will result in possibly very important jb app icons being hidden after the update.

In my case, I had all the jb utility apps (Cydia, Bossprefs, SSH, etc etc) grouped within a folder using Categories and now I have no choice but to restore the phone 100% without backup to get these icons visible again. It's going to take a whole day to do this. Luckily I actually did a manual backup of vital files like my address book, msgs and so on via SSH yesterday (which I conveniently can't use right now to further backup other info). So guys, be careful about this.

As usual, before backup, make sure all apps in your springboard esp important apps like cydia. So far, this new pwnage tool worked as expected like beta ver.

nod.gif uh-huh... thats exactly what happened and it just hit me that I have to do a clean restore. shakehead.gif This is going to take a long time to get my phone in spiffy condition again. Oh the pain doh.gif and I actually thought of the possibility that Categories would give me problems before updating to FW2.2. But I didn't give it a 2nd thought. doh.gif

Less than hour is not bad right? And do you know, how much time dev team spend for testing Pwnage tool ?

mm... not less than hour. Must include time spent on restore, reinstalling all apps from AppStore, pwn+jb (this one kejap only la heh), reinstall all apps from Cydia, manual restore all the vital files like address book, and finally tweak whatever needs to be tweaked back. I happen to have a lot of productivity apps on my phone so to restore the informations in those apps that I won't be able to backup is going to take time too.

I enjoyed doing it all the first time round but to do it all over again is somewhat a hassle and it takes a lot of time. Don't mistake my rantings for whining though bro baretta hehe...I'm not looking to be labeled the wrong way. I'm sorry if it affects you in any way. I'm merely just warning others and saying that the process is frustrating.

Yepp, less than one hour from restored, sync, JB, apps (cydia). Tweak what? why manual restore address book? The process is simple. Just enjoy it when you do it.
