HD3200 is better hands down. In terms of gaming, watching HD movies but not in power consumption. sweat.gif
You can even see the difference in color. The ATI looks more vibrant.
(I tested the same HD movies on an Intel based CQ40 and an AMD ATI based CQ40. Tested using the awesome CoreAVC codec, which makes it less taxing on the cpu.)

btw what do you mean by 'support HD playback without using the cpu'?

erm. it means the GPU can take on the h.264 decoding job without relaying it to the CPU. I heard 4500MHD has it, not sure about HD3200.

battery life wise, how is the average hour for the AMD based models? assume its on normal surfing with wifi

I don't understand. How to do that? When to press F11? By doing so no driver installer is needed?

Actually Ive successfully installed all the drivers. But it was really tiring to look for all of them. And there are several installer that can't detect hardware. Had to do it manually through device manager. Spent all night for drivers sweat.gif  sweat.gif

F11 is to initiate the system recovery process to recover back to the factory initial settings ( like what you get when you 1st open the notebook), however this is only applicable to NB with the os pre-installed by HP.

if your friend did not delete the original factory settings recovery system for the notebook, once you on the notebook just press button F11 then it will lead you to reinstall your notebook to the original factory settings thumbup.gif

OS by HP? So people who formatted their lappy on their own won't be able to use that feature? Will the F11 button format other partition as well?

And one more thing, I checked the temperature of the lappy using Speedfan, and it shows that the processor is quite hot. 63-70 all time. Is it okay for laptops? Or should get a cooler already?

means the F11 only applies to those who purchased the notebook which comes with Ori Vista OS, eg, vista home premium

Install with Vista is the best. No incompatible driver problem. CQ series is made primarily for Vista. smile.gif

Jz get a Vista Home Basic / Premium ori version since it's meant for corporate use.

Search LYN... for many ppl selling Vista original.

High Definition Audio driver:

Installing this driver result in an error. Forece step;

1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp41616\WDM folder and select the .inf file and click open and Continue, ignore if complaints "not digitally signed"

Send back to HP service centre is a wise choice. biggrin.gif

Luckily my CQ lappy is under On-site service warranty. Means HP engineer will come to service the lappy at my house.
