That if the BIOS doesn't allow you to change the AHCI to IDE, then you need to do that...

Hi, I have a Presario CQ40-645TU bought 2 years ago. It blacked out yesterday when I was surfing the net like I always do. Then it restarted back but there's an error message "No bootable device: insert boot disk and press any key". Anybody know what's probably wrong with my laptop?

Probably harddisk died on you.

try removing the back panel and remove the harddisk and re-insert it.

if not remove the harddisk and put it into a external hdd case and plug it into other computer and see if the hdd is still fine.

if i remove the harddisk like u said, will it affect the data inside? what if the harddisk is really damaged? does it mean i lost all my data? how much does it cost to buy a new one?

There will be no data loss at all. Just put it into a external case and use it as a external hdd and backup your files.

If the harddisk is really damage, you wouldnt be able to read it at all. Meaning you'll lose all your data.

Harddisk currently is quite pricey. You can check in Garage Sales.

how do you guys maintain your battery? any tips to share? smile.gif

i have a CQ42-268TX, used about 1 year, the maximum battery life was about 3 hours plus, now when i used it everyday, the maximum battery life seems to be deteriorating. now it has dropped to 2 hours 53 mins. I'm currently using BatteryBar to monitor the battery life.
