Hi, may i know my vantec 450w true power PSU can support 4850? My hardware is just normal one, no power suckling hardware inside. Thanks
does the 4850 use 2, 6 pin power supply? if yes then i guess not enuf.AMD/ATi HD 4000 Series Discussion V4, Just added: HD4830 benches!

IMO that Vantec 450W true power is enough to power it up, for that configuration and running it stock la that is. If OC then different story.

That one not sure man, but if you OC a lot on that processor + GC. definitely going to use a lot more. But if only at stock, most use about 250W only.

best way 2 OC 4870 is flash it to ASUS TOP bios. (815/925)
not only it is the fastest GPU clock OC available on the market, it consumes less power on idle & load compared to reference.............. btw, 4870 memory u dun need 2 OC much. wit DDR5, it already has way enough bandwidth. |

4850 bottlenecked by the memory, 4870 bottlenecked by the core lol. Guess that's DDR5 for you.
I don't know if this is related to GC or not, let's say I were to get a 1920x1080 24" LCD, and obviously 4850GS doesn't have enough power to run it at that native resolution. If I were to go to a lower resolution, can I set it so that the display remains at 1440x900 (eg) but with black edges at the side instead of it resizing to fill the entire screen? Is this GC or the display dependent? |

it is display dependent, unless your display is capable of doing 1:1 pixel mapping, if not, the content would be stretched.
