the only performance drop that i noticed is longer boot time into windows
i'd prefer that over BSOD anytime though

from what i read people comment on 8.10....catalyst 8.10 seems to be "heavier" than 8.9

and , future 8.11 will be "lighter" again

Why izit that the 8.10 cat allow the idle gpu temperature up to 78 izit safe i use to use the previous drivers where i had to mod the profile settings to gain control of the fan n i know the new drivers allow to manually control the fan i thought that the new drivers will control the idle temp even better i mean idle at 56-60degrees i still feel my 4870 is runnin hot.

use RBE, u just set the different percentage of fan speed wen GPU reaches different different temperature.
just like adjusting fan speed using ATI tray tools.

Hi, can anyone using 8.10 with Vista confirm for me?

There is no VPU Recover option? I recalled having this on my XP boot, and had this in the 8.10 "leaked" under Vista. Right now using the official 8.10, can't see the VPU recover tab anywhere.

Run GPU-Z and see if you can view the fan speed and temperature from there or not. 8.10 should look like the pic I posted above.

Still need to confirm if VPU recover is removed for the vista version or mine has something wrong.
