just for Gainward Fans info, tomorrow coolice, lolhalol and dblooi will be performing LN2/DICE demo in Lowyat Plaza.

And because of Netraid, Gainward card will be featured in the Demo. Thanks to Netraid, so far the most aggressive distro we have ever seen in supporting the overclocking and Lowyat.NET community.
Thank you Sanko, for being the great planner behind your OC team. notworthy.gif So far everything is our own initiatives and expenses. Once we have more activities, we can offer more goodies to Gainward users. Hot games at great prices is one of them.

Woah congrats to the winners biggrin.gif By the way, I have a mini question biggrin.gif does anyone here uses 4850GS and play COD4? When i Alt+Tab out to my windows it'll hang for a few seconds before i actually get to see my screen and same goes when I go back in game smile.gif Never happened to my previous graphic card lol which is the 7600GT smile.gif thanks notworthy.gif

it's normal i suppose...cuz it happens to me too...haha...

it's prolly due to the fact that 4850gs is too geng and ur game graphic setting is very de high...hence will lag abit...

i dont think there's anything wrong with it rclxms.gif

Hi guys,

I'm planning to purchase a new system.
Core2Duo 8400
Asus P5Q
2x2GB Corsair XMS
Gainward 4850GS

I'll reuse my sata hdd, dvdrw and soundblaster.

However, i'm wondering if my current powersupply - CoolerMaster RealPower 450W can cope with the Gainward 4850GS because of its weak 12v rails. Anyone using this powersupply w/ the 4850GS?

Thanks in advance.

@SyriuS

Just play safe and get at least 550w of true power psu.
If u are on a budget try one of those Huntkey Greenstar but judging from ur shopping list there i think u can fork out the dough for either a Corsair or a Silverstone.

Guys, on funny note, I never experience any blackouts with 8.8 Catalyst on Vista. I set all maximum on Assassin's Creed. It's not that smooth especially when on the top of tower (eagle vision) but close on the streets and fightings are fine enough, very well playable. So far, I only tested Assassin's Creed. Perhaps Vista has better power management compared to XP?

What has power management got to do with blackout? The blackout isn't a crash or something... is just like a sudden lost signal to the monitor (but there is signal..just showing black).

I'm using CM 450W Real Power for my rig. Seems alright. But its safer for 550W with your specs smile.gif

Hi all, thanks for the replies.

So, anyone using a CoolerMaster 450W to power a core2duo system w/ 4850GS successfully? If not I'll look for a corsair powersupply.

Hey guys,

Not to berate or put down any brands but I think you all should really check if the PSU you are buying is really "TRUE POWER". Ask around, Google it and check reviews for the brand/model you have in mind.

PC without display due to insufficient power to the VGA is not so bad, the worse case is those with "barely" enough power that you get display but also all kinds of problems: lags, jagged lines, artifacts, flickers, blackouts and funny sounds (1 Gainward user here has this).

Having said this, beware of new brands like Huntkey. I'm not saying it's bad, although I myself heard many things on this brand from industry sources. I'm just saying do more asking.

All the best.

i can run it as a gaming machine with just 2gb of ram.
no slowdown whatsoever and if u have a 4000 series card im sure u have at least a dual core and 2gb of ram so that memory hog thing is not a problem.
