4870GS should be able to run all games without problem unless you play at very high res and very high AA on certain games like Crysis.

So far I only encounter lag on Crysis and Warhead. Other games runs smooth at max settings. But, this is on low resolution, 1280x1024 only =/

All other games I have everything turned on. AA to the max as well.

But Crysis err, I ran without AA/AF. 20-40FPS depending on the scene lor. This part a bit subjective, some people thinks 30 FPS not lag, but for me I can feel the jaggyness already.

I read somewhere, i forget where, that the difference between 4850 GS and non GS is about 5 fps, max 10 fps at those games which churn out 60+ fps. Is this true, or did i get punk`d with my non-GS 4850? Honestly, i`ve been able to play Crysis and other games at my native resolution of 1280x1024 at max settings, without (almost) any lag. So the question is... should i`ve gone with the GS version?

bro, the gs version is better, cooler , maybe even hippier in it's own way...plus it's the best BFB gc you can find these days..

GS version are meant to be factory overclocked and usually comes with better cooling solution.

hence GS version is a simple solution for hardcore gamer who wants to overclock their card without voiding the warranty smile.gif and you'd save money on 3rd party cooler.

i myself is using the reference piece cuz that time gs belum out..haha...if u wanna change can still buy now ma...but no stock ady these days..

hope that helps..

essentially, GS and normal 4850 is the same (they use the same core!) just the overclocking part smile.gif

ps = you can still play games in highest detail like i do smile.gif and it still rocks !

Well, if you don't want the hassle of modding the cooling + OCing it yourself. GS is a good choice. but since you've already got a non reference and is happy with it, then don't think so much.

20 - 40 fps is good already...................
mine i put all gamers setting wit 4x AA on 1280 * 1024.
usually ~40+ fps, nvr drop bellow 30 in firefight.
only final boss fight i notice slight lag sometime, may b ~25 fps?

Hi again Gainward family! I've received my 4850GS today, it was the last one they had, and now its out of stock.
Couldn't test the card yet cause I'm waiting for my board too, tomorrow I'm receiving it so this weekend I'll be able to test my entire system biggrin.gif

Another question, I saw this one Gigabyte GV-R485OC-1GH, Core at 700Mhz and 1GB of memory at 1980Mhz. AT THE SAME PRICE THAN MY GOLDEN SAMPLE ONE!

I've got a 20" monitor, 1680x1050. At these resolution which will be better? that GV-R485OC-1GH or GS4850

OC is pretty similar for both. If that 1GB will work better maybe I sell my GS one to get that 1Gb version what do you think people?

IMO, 1GB is not going to be utilized. The 512MB is fine for anything under 1920x1200. But it also depends on the game.
For the extra money over the 1GB get the 4870 instead.
