unker stimix, mind to share with me your itinerary in jakarta? i went to the jakarta thread and saw your post then link me to here. flying with AA to bandung then plan to take train to jakarta. now still thinking what to do in jakarta for 3d2n

It will be abit OT if posting Jakarta itineraries in Bandung thread.. just like what earlier guy mentioned.. Shopping-shopings & shoppings.. probably the old city in North Jakarta for colonial houses (Farquhah square/ Kelapa Sunda port), 2 days in Jakarta is OK but too short if you intend to goto Ancoll world or even Pulau Seribu area.

just came back from bandung. nothing much to see about 4d3n for relax trip enough to cover bandung. the ppl in bandung is really nice, they tend to help if they could. i can say its quite safe there at night cos i did walk back to my hotel from paris van java to cihampelas eventhough the distance is quite far but those dark streets without lights are kinda scary if compare to kl here. the problem with ppl in indonesia is the rich are too rich and the poor are to poor.

if u take blue bird taxi definitely cheaper than that. but bear in mind if the taxi u order by phone will have minimum charge of IDR 20k, PVJ is just behind of cihampelas. actually u don really need a supir cos there isnt much place to visit in bandung, like me at 1st i plan to hire a supir too but in the end didnt so just stick with taxis moving around didnt cost me IDR 800k for 3days, i even went to tangkuban perahu and ciater hot spring by taxi and went back to cihampelas with taxi fare around IDR 200k++. not to mention there is a ticket fare to pay before going up tangkuban perahu, they are very smart, 1st they will ask where are u from. if u're not from indon then they will charge u 50k per person, if u are indonesian then 10k only. and cihampelas is always having traffic jam.

ya that area is always jammed pack with traffic, sometimes it is better to walk. I think IDR800K for 2days is reasonable at least can go anywhere without worries and just fully utilise the 2 days

Will be staying@ Aston Tropicana, hv no idea it's a jammed prone area when i made the booking, since it's our inaugral trip hehe...so to be safe better take supir. If it's up to me i will utilised two days for shopping but another friends wanted sightseeing so hv to sacrificed many places. will go to PB and selected FOs only.

If it's just around the corner may be we can walk to PJV, otherwise take cab.

thanks for all the tips guys!

yes there is a tipping habit there. example if you ask your driver go somewhere and u ask him park somewhere and wait for you awhile then when u are about to go there will be a guy(unless the guy is the guard for that shop then no need) to stop the traffic for you to allow your car reverse out then normally u should tip that guy if not just act stupid only. normally the tips range from 1k-3k IRD. becareful when u are at tangkuban perahu, if u look like tourist then those seller wil keep bugging u to buy their stuff or even offer picture service. they print on the spot for u.

Added on June 16, 2012, 9:59 pmGo the information I needed and would like to share it here. It's called MENTARI, and don't buy at the airport coz it could cost you five times more. Cheaper to call home.

i went up to tangkuban perahu with a taxi cos me around 80k from cihampelas so if to and fro approx 160k IRD or less about there. and yes u need a ticket before u can enter. there will be a drive thru counter before ur taxi start going up the hill. if you are tourist then the ticket will cost 50k IRD if u are indonesian then 10k IRD only. when u reach up there the taxi will just park the car by the side then just get down and look around nothing much, but it smell pretty bad though cos of the sulphur i guess. about the mud treatment im not sure cos i dint try, u need to walk a little further down where there is some small tent like canopy.
