hi all,

I'm going to Bandung soon. Wanna ask.. to go up to Tangkuban Perahu from any hotel near city would be good to use taxi? If yes, how much approx? I saw some mentioned that have to pay ticket before go up, is that ticket just to masuk only? or with a tour guide? how much is the ticket? what about those ppl who follow you up, is that a necesary? also about the mud treatment.. any charges on this?

Sorry if im asking a repeat questions.. too many pages too read till pening dee  rclxub.gif

Thanks!!

refer to post #630 onwards.
one of the extract
Tangkuban Perahu each tourist will be charged IDR50K and the van IDR12500 entrance fees. At the top if you want a guided tour to reach the hotspring you will be charged IDR300K/hr and if exceed 1hr you need to pay the guide seperately. Beware it will normally take more than 1hr to complete the journey and beside the guide there will be at least few more person following you and they will pester you to buy souvenirs which are generally grossly overpriced.

Easy to move around taking angkot.
Just tell them where you want to go.
They'll help direct you to the correct one.
Make sure you have small change.

Has a blast using them for my 9 days, stayed at orange home and they're so cheap compared to taxi.
It's a real unique experience. rclxms.gif

I prefer using angkotan for "jalan-jalan" within the city... from outlet to outlet.. and it cheaper and fun as 10&Counting said.

For far destination I hired supir just for 1 day only, went to Tangkuban.

Orange home is nice, I stayed 9 days, staff very friendly. biggrin.gif
Many Malaysians stay there.
Walk to main road from orange home.
Just hail one that is empty or has place and tell them where u want to go.

sorry for late reply..there is a lot of FO in Bandung..Jalan cihampelas, jalan dago, jalan riau, setiabudi..
for budget hotel I will prefer cihampelas..just google cihampelas hotel or amaris hotel..the price range around RM100-RM200 per night..

At jalan dago quite expensive for me..but still have a few budget hotel such wisma dago..I forgot a few of them..

jakarta seem as KL but more crowded
If you want to visit slum area you can read from this link
http://www.gadling.com/2009/07/08/slum-tou...-now-operating/

If you liked shopping"mangga dua or tanah abang" is the place
If you want branded item/black market you must visited "pasar ular" or "taman puring"
If you need high (extasy, ampethanine, weed,  etc) just go to "stadium" in kota

Hi there,

I'll be there in Bandung on the 19th till 22nd this month. Any recommendation for Taxi Drivers?

The other thing is are lockers provided at Hot Spring Areas, definitely would not want to dip into the pool holding my camera or worrying somebody will grab my stuff.

it's rp.100,000 for airport tax and isurance. D:

anyway i will suggest to buy brownies call bawean at jalan bawean or jalan riau...it's really famous biggrin.gif since small kid everytime visit bandung sure bought the brownies lol
and also try batagor at batagor kingsley (Jl. Veteran 25) (totally full everytime i come)
mie naripan also quite famous for local (Jl. Naripan No. 108 Bandung Utara/Sumur Bandung)

:S kampung daun it's not really nice for food, people come there just to see the scenery.

got 1 places quite nice but i dun't really remember the name. D:

and yeah if u use angkot is very cheap, just that diff angkot have different destination

if not u can use becak or motor around rp10,000 or less (prediction of price...few years ago i only rp5,000, i didn't use local transport anymore since i have my own car)
well i only can suggest food places only.D:

have to agree with Stimix, if not into shopping then max 2 days in Bandung is enough and can travel to Jakarta which is 180km from Bandung and it takes 2hrs drive and if u want to go to jogja it will take 8hrs drive. Be prepared to endure the crazy traffic jam almost everywhere in Java. My friend who went to Surabaya took 3hrs to reach hotel from the airport and was told by the driver that it can take up to 6hrs if traffic jam is at its peak
*
the airport tax IDR 100000/75000 per person or family?

Was there last year with my wife and kid! Shopping for us, theme park for the kids.

Things to note:

Use blue bird taxi, they are trustworthy and they use meter.

Shopping wise- everywhere u go there's Burberry Jeans, Lacoste polos is in every shop i walked into , as is all the other high end brands. (also not sure if authentic)

food is cheap but their drinks are extremely sweet. They have a sweet tooth i think! so ask for extra water and ice to dilute it!
Otherwise u might come back with diabetes!

Transworld theme park is great for kids and family fun!

Clothing wise you can find lots of stuff, but I was looking for men's shoes and there was no good selection everywhere i went.

There was a new factory outlet place near the airport which we missed, i think it's called bali or something.

Was there for 3 days, did enough shopping as most shops have the same stuff.

Their range of clothes can be everything from factory excess/rejects to summer/winter stuff.
