fairly troublesome to take care compared to their shorter tail brothers but a good specimen is extremely stunning. keep an eye on the water parameter, any fluctuations or bad water quality will make the ray curl and most of the time, it's 'unrepairable'.

go for 2 ray if possible or 4 ray if the price is right. anything more than 4 ray is a bit too messy to be considered show grade.

ph 6.2~7 should be fine for fishes. less than 6 means ur water more acidic, more than 7 means alkaline. and why put salt? your fish is sick? never heard of that salt too. if its healthy just aged water/chloramine will do fine.

if its the suitable size of your tank u're asking about, i'll say the larger the better. most people like to keep betta's in a dang small jar. which is bad for the fish health/liking. nobody likes being cramped in such a small space right? even thought it's a fish, well, you will want ur pet to be happy right. its really up to u. but personally i use a 10 gallon tank. its planted and filtered.

Arent you implying that a bigger tank is better? You failed your english or what? doh.gif
QUOTE(inv @ Mar 30 2009, 04:28 PM)
Bacteria nowadays are harder to kill with salt because people kept mis-using salt as a water conditioner.  vmad.gif
Ketapang acts as a water conditioner. SALT IS NOT. Get your facts right before you shoot. thx.
yes. my sentiments exactly.  thumbup.gif
Since when did i mentioned that SALT is used as a water conditioner?Dude, dont assume.

Both of you are wrong when you mention not using salt for betta keeping. Its either you're not really experienced or dont know much bout betta keeping so please, don give wrong advice.
Many experienced betta keepers/breeders uses some salt and have slighly acidic water when keeping their bettas. The tannic acid in ketapang leaves will make the water more acidic and its been said to calm the fish down and bettas love it.Even Atison Betta Spa has indian almond leaf extract(ketapang) where its used to add to the water in betta. And,a bigger tank doenst necessarily mean its better.

so what this line means? u use salt for keeping or not? if not but use only when fishes need treatment y say i am wrong?
you read my 1st line but not the following, 'its really up to u. but personally i use a 10 gallon tank'.

is it my or your english fail? yeayea whatever. i given a few links to those who need help. i find them useful and agreed by many. as for u, think what u like, u starting to bore me out.

Hahah.. CT is not easy to keep honestly. So as HM.. If u wanna go for easy keeping and good looking type, PK or HMPK will be your choice. Else u need to keep an eyes for water parameter. Like 2-3days WC once.

@Spirit
Hows ur wild? Doing great? I've just get another 4 juv from haji yesterday. around 3.5cm each.. laugh.gif Now wanna get more plants and hidding place for the juv.

i think bobby got it.. u can ask him.. if not, may b u can ask yewlin...

now, i stop using glass tank.. i used SU container... which is a plastic container... price is around rm1.60 each...
i used platic container because... it is light weight and it wont break so easier.. and most important, it wont cut u( my hand have a little bit injured when i do water change for my fish, due to the sharp edge of glass tank..)
