Anybody dig Protest The Hero? Fortress is pretty much their best album in my opinion.

It's very technical and I love the way they play, it's like there's no boundaries to play weird tabs.

Those drum bits are pretty hard to imitate and the songs overall are catchy and I find it wasn't very hard to digest for first timers (like myself) tongue.gif.

Also, Parkway Drive's Deep Blue is pretty interesting. Although, they're heading towards a different type of music from their previous album (Horizon), it's still nice for those who willing to try something different. icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT: Together with As I Lay Dying's new album (The Powerless Rise), those two mentioned above are my favorites for time being.

i love thrash metal, heavy metal because some reason,
hahaha
most of them wrote the songs and lyrics by themself, and the song so good
takes a lot of talent, and is generally the heaviest music,
and how they can perform live, it's amazing
to play the instruments and to do live show(usually 1 hour and more ) need more energy and stamina.. and still they can perform very well without missing any notes from the records, guitar solo,
I think it's an awesome genre, and requires a lot of talent. I love the feeling from hearing some kickass riffs and well-written vocals.

If you know the band Mortiis, you can download their new album free legally here:
Mortiis-Perfectly Defect

It sound a bit like Nine Inch Nails and new Linkin Park album but a bit heavier. This is the new experiment by Mortiis as they combined modern element into their songs. I'll admit i'm one of their street team, if you click the link above i will gain some point for my progress as member of street team.
But if you want alternative download link you can visit here: http://www.mortiis.com/ this is the official Mortiis website, no BS or addon. By the way, free good music is meant to be shared .

Anyone heard about this?
My life is complete if they do!

Iron Maiden to perform in Indonesia?

IRON MAIDEN To Play Indonesia In February? - Oct. 2, 2010

The Jakarta Post reports that British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN will perform in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Bali in February 2011, a local promoter said on Sunday. "They [IRON MAIDEN] have confirmed it," Tommy Pratama, a promoter from Original Production, according to TempoInteraktif.com.

The Jakarta show will likely take place on either February 17 or February 18, with the Bali concert to follow two days later.

Rod Smallwood, IRON MAIDEN's longtime manager, told The New York Times that more than 800,000 copies of the band's latest album, "The Final Frontier", had been shipped to retailers around the world by the end of August, with the group having sold about 85 million records in its 30-year career.

"A lot of bands could learn a lot from MAIDEN," Smallwood said. "MAIDEN is essentially about the relationship with the fans, and nothing comes between that. They don't want to be rock stars. They just enjoy playing for the fans."

According to David Kassler, chief operating officer of EMI for Europe, digital tracking services showed only small levels of illegal downloading of "The Final Frontier", which is attributable in part to the fact that IRON MAIDEN's songs do not fit the mold of a radio single — three of them, on the newest release, are more than nine minutes long.

"You'd expect some people to be pirating, but they don't," Kassler told The New York Times. "They want the physical album. They love the artwork, the lyrics. It's something they want to show their friends and family."

Yes, but for me they sound too technical, lots of progression and solos. I only familiar with american thrash metal band because their style is more direct.

thanks for the feedback.. talk about scorpions, i do love their music style. good powerful ballads songs to enjoy
rudofl schenker in the interview on the 'World Wide Live' video, he mentioned that his goal is not to become the best or fastest guitarist, but to be a very good composer. notworthy.gif
and Mustaine attributed his choice of the Flying V guitar to being a fan of UFO's Michael Schenker when he was growing up. thumbup.gif

You can try W.A.S.P - Live in the Raw. It's a live album but a very good one indeed.

Most of Manowar's albums are also pretty good if you're into heavy metal.

I think today Megadeth line up is on par with Marty era. The lead guitarist Chris Broderick is very, very talented. He can play all Marty solos without struggling unlike Al Pitrelli and Glen Drover which tend to simplify Marty solos. And David Ellefson is back too. Shawn Drover maybe not technical and agressive as Nick Menza or Jimmy DeGrasso but he keep the timing well and his playing is close to the original recording without any extra drum fill which is something that Mustaine like.

Try listen to that song, it is special for guitar hero game so maybe you'll feel there are too many solos which is sometime out of place.

Lagu baru SODOM untuk pendengaran umum
Sebuah lagu dari album baru SODOM yang akan dirilis pada 22/11/2010 nanti telahpun dibuka untuk pendengaran umum bertajuk In War and Pieces (bahasa Inggeris ni seronok buat sebutan yang sama tetapi ejaan yang berlainan - sepatutnya Peace tapi diubah jadi Pieces dan sekaligus menukar terus maksud asal).

Ia boleh didengar secara streaming DI SINI.

Apa pandangan anda?

"In War And Pieces", the title track of the new album from German thrash metal veterans SODOM, is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. will be released in North America on January 11, 2011 and in Europe on November 22, 2010 via SPV/Steamhammer.

"In War And Pieces" track listing:

01. In War And Pieces
02. Hellfire
03. Through Toxic Veins
04. Nothing Counts More Than Blood
05. Storm Raging Up
06. Feigned Death Throes
07. Soul Contraband
08. God Bless You
09. The Art Of Killing Poetry
10. Knarrenheinz
11. Styptic Parasite

never listen to SODOM before, so it's good or not? unsure.gif

Thanks for the heads-up. Will definitely try to listen to them again. Last one i heard was Cryptic Writing and that was below my expectation.

Some may not like it due to the singer 'growling kinda voice'. You can try listen to their infamous album - Agent Orange and see if you like it or not.

I would also like to recommend you guys to listen to Sebastian Bach (formerly of Skid Row) - Angel Down. But dont confuse it with Skid Row. This one is way heavy and Bach voice really can tarikkkkk smile.gif Two thumbs up!

QUOTE

The Great Southern Brainfart: When I asked Tom Hunting of EXODUS about his drumming technique, he had this to say: "One of the things he learned was that the faster you hit the snare with as much force as possible and the sooner you get out, the more it's gonna resonate. I tried to teach Drover that, but he, you know, he's stuck in his glam metal. [laughs]" Would you care to comment on that?

Drover: [smiles and shakes his head] The thing about Tom is that he has tree trunks for arms. The guy hits with such insane velocity and power that it's just… What can you say? The guy's brutal. He's a huge influence on my playing. When I discovered thrash, EXODUS was right up there with all the bands like METALLICA, SLAYER and ANTHRAX. Right off the bat I was a big fan of Tom's playing. He's a completely original thrash metal drummer. His rolls and the drum fills that he does are amazing, I think. I didn't realize until we toured with them in 2004 how hard he hits the snare. The drum set he's got now is a Yamaha and he's got probably the loudest snare, I would say, in the world. I've never heard a snare that loud where it was like crushing my head. I'm sure he took great joy in hitting a little bit harder just to piss everybody off because his snare sounded so f***ing awesome. Tom's a great drummer, but I do have better hair than he does, so you can tell him that from me!
