nice... a badass downdraft cooler
ive always preferred downdraft as compaired to towers... coz the downdraft will help cool surrounding areas as well. i noticed in the review it was also tested with the panaflo.... how was the panaflo mounted on the HSF? |

coolice and sup3rfly, is the test carried out on naked rig?
cuz normally performance of this type of HSF will degrade once it's carried out in closed rig, just like TT BTVX. the airflow in case will affect the performance. mind retest in closed rig for more practical real life performance? thanks P.S: i can feel my xigmatek s1283 is nearing it's doom |

really nice cooler with good performance. always appreciate cooler like this one since it will help on cooling other components on the pcb as well. moreover if ur pcb packed with heatpipes... |

Mm i highly doubt the down draft HSF can beat the Archilles. possible variations:
1. Was Archilles tested with SS kit? 2. was it done @ close case? to me, a down draft hsf can't outperform the tower design. Apple to apple comparison |

just bought killerwhale yesterday at imbi, just 155. ..happiness turned into tragedy..iv mistakenly touched the fan while its run in full speed and its BROKEN!!!!! MAMA~~~! my 800km journey to buy this thing..sob... lol i nearly wanted to trow it away, but then my eyes caught on gam cap gajah. I tried to fix it n its runnin again! xDDD.
Iv tested it on my e7300@3.5ghz 1.32vcore. running occt n everest, max temp after hours around 68c at 30c ++ room temp at afternoon(usually +10c compared to temp at night). Tested it with prime95, 77c max . idle at 48c. with just 2 coolermaster 12' fans. i think i should fix my airflow more after this or maybe a new casing..working on it now.. |

actually thermal paste not much diff 1.. TX2 oledi is a good thermal paste.. but the good tactic applying thermal paste mayb will improve a little bit..
the most important still is the airflow inside casing, since KW is blow down type.. so for the long run in a bad airflow will make the temp not so nice.. improve internal airflow will help a lot i belive.. |

MAMA~~~! my 800km journey to buy this thing..sob... lol i nearly wanted to trow it away, but then my eyes caught on gam cap gajah. I tried to fix it n its runnin again! xDDD. bro i think u can change the fan to any 12cm fanIv tested it on my e7300@3.5ghz 1.32vcore. running occt n everest, max temp after hours around 68c at 30c ++ room temp at afternoon(usually +10c compared to temp at night). Tested it with prime95, 77c max . idle at 48c. with just 2 coolermaster 12' fans. i think i should fix my airflow more after this or maybe a new casing..working on it now.. so no prob aite try ask tkh...he might know |

KW should be a nice cooler....
btw depend on ur buget too... as ur buget lower thn go for s1283 or hyper212 lor.. if a little bit more buget can go for KW or CCF, they r nice... and wat casing u using there? make sure can fit them in loh.. if CCF really nid more clearance place for ur mobo too... some mobo will cnt fit it in... and u oso nid to make sure the airblow direction of each cooler, make sure matching with ur casing air flow and hv a totally good airflow in ur casing.. thn u js can saw their true performance... Just owned a Deepcool Killer Whale.
But strange thing is my BE idle is 38 last time when using Thermaltake Big Typhoon. And now changed Killer Whale and the idle temp goes 41 Temp see through Everest Ultimate Edition, is that any problem? Or need more accurate software to check? |

just got this cooler last night and have it installed on my EP45-UD3R..
here are some of my findings.. first, the bracket is blocking the heatsink of mosfat near the IO ports, need to apply force to push the heatsink away.. as you can see from the image below, the fin is slightly bended ![]() the clearance of the cooler and northbridge with heatsink is okay ![]() clearance with the other heatsink is fine too ![]() extra tall RAM may have issue.. but should be okay if you don't mind the fan pushing the heat spreader ![]() overall i find the installation is a little challenging as the cooler is a bit too large, RAM need to be removed for fingers to access the thumb screw unless you have very small hand, not to mention if the board is attached to the casing, access to the other 3 thumb screw can be very challenging too.. what's more if 2nd fan is attached ![]() ![]() clearance of the cooler and side panel is adequate for Centurion 534+ ![]() cooler in action ![]() ![]() now here's a brief one on the performance, E8400 @ stock speed running on closed case, ambient temp around 29.5°C. E6750 stock cooler: Idle: 45°C Load: 67°C Ice Blade Pro: Idle: 35°C Load: 52°C please note that the load test was with OCCT for around 5 minutes only and the fan speed is set to 70% for temperature < 47°C. this is only a very brief test so the result may not be accurate, just take it as reference lah.. also i have yet to test the cooler while overclock.. something to add, on built quality, the fin is rather soft, doesn't require large force to bend the edge.. other than that the rest look and feel solid.. the fan maximum speed is 1500rpm i think (indicated by SpeedFan), rather quite to my standard, but not sure how strong it is... i don't know how good it is compare to other HDT cooler, but for the price i paid for this cooler, it's definitely worth it This post has been edited by kuanhon: Nov 28 2008, 02:43 PM |

coolice : is it possible to use screw driver to screw the heatsink onto the motherboard instead of using you fingers ?
coz i'll be using this for my processor testing rig, and it's quite a hassle if i had to unlock it by turning the thumb screws |

Bought DeepCool Nbridge 8 yesterday. Feels and look sturdy. Definitely Well built. Straight fwd installation, one BIG complain, the mounting spring is way way too poor, insufficient pressure to whack it down properly. Modded 2 bolt+ nuts into it, and now it doesnt move a micron with excellent mounting pressure. The P35 is burning hot, @ 400fsb, it burns , the whole HSF is hot.

In the chinese review, it fails to specify what fan they used together with the TRUE. Therefore, the review is not so reliable.

i already feedback this to deepcool last week to seperate intel and amd mounting here is their replies QUOTE After I feedback to the product dept. They pay much attention on this issue. This is a little bit big project and we still have some stock in the warehouse. The most important is we need open new mould. After they get a lot information from market, our factory have been decided to accept your suggestion and become to design new clip and open mould...... Once it is in mass production, I will let you know. |

northbridge 8 better but more expansive. Changing any stock heatsink will void warranty for sure. But ppl change back to stock cooler and send for RMA. Unless u oc, else no nid add fan to them.
Added on April 20, 2009, 10:03 pmnow my norbridge goes up to 90C without fan with stock heatsink. Now no money to change heatsink so I added a 70mm to help cooling down. it is around 50-60C on idle now. I never oc but the intergrated graphic is generating a lot of heat. previous i use graphic card never got overheat problem but now must use fan or else hang very often. Not such a big deal for me though, performance wise is impressive, E8400@4.00 clock speed running on 1.36Vcore with idle temp of 32c and load temp via linx around 60c. |

QUOTE(kali65 @ Jun 1 2009, 01:21 PM) i happen to use deepcool killer whale on Gigabyte EP45-UD3P, when i align the "H" bracket to the 4 point mounting holes during installation i found out that the mosfet heatsink is blocking approx. 0.4mm, so i grind off approx. 0.4mm on the two round edges of the "H" bracket to get a perfect alignment. Not such a big deal for me though, performance wise is impressive, E8400@4.00 clock speed running on 1.36Vcore with idle temp of 32c and load temp via linx around 60c. thanks bro for the advice. |

wanna share about this really crazy cheap cooler from Deep Cool. It's just RM35-39. Bought it as use for normal as my stock cooler is not with me.
It comes with a 9.2mm fan but it was so noisy that I decided to remove it and let it run passive without any fans on it. Here's my temperature reading. ^^ Attached thumbnail(s) |
