Dell SXPS 16 is surely a beast when it comes to performance. There's an interesting discussion which I managed to came across while googling.

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=630157

It's a debate of SXPS 16 vs MBP 15/17 inch. I, for one, plan to upgrade my notebook to MBP. Even though it's more expensive than SXPS 16, yet you get OS X and a sleek design. I had used Windows for, my entire life now and plan to try out Mac OS X. Ever since I heard Vista is released I had been disappointed. It's time for me to move on to Mac OS X.

Nice one slashie.

No driver incompatability issue while running Mac OS X? I like the spec for SXPS 16, but I'm not really sure I will like WinVista or 7 or anything that come after WinXP.

Driver incompatability issue is normal when you try to install OSX to "Windows suppose to be laptop" laugh.gif

For sxps 1340 :

Working "out of the box":

* gig-ethernet, usb, firewire, sata
* system suspend
* touchpad as mouse
* webcam (video only), video capture verified with photo booth application
* Bluetooth in HID mode (think dumb mouse)

Working with mods below:

* GeForce 9400M G graphics with quartz extreme, external HDMI/VGA/display port
* Built-in speaker, hotkey volume/mute controls
* Intel speedstep
* Touchpad gestures, and working touchpad after resume with modified version of voodoo team's Voodoops2controller
* Battery status & suspend on lid closed
* Bluetooth in HCI mode (full functionality)
* touchpad usability after resume

Not working:

* Built-in digital mic, mic-in jack, mute of speakers when headphones attached
* Dell 1515 802.11 wireless (atheros ar9280 aka ar5009).
* SLI with 9500m video

Sos Tomato

Wireless 1515, i think dell change to 1510 now, so it will work out of the box.

You're like asking whats the difference between an apple and a fruit laugh.gif

I think its just the power consumption.Centrino 2 uses less power which is 25W compared to 35W(without centrino 2)

Centrino is just a marketing brand by Intel. Your computer needs to have certain Intel chipset, processor, and wireless card to qualify for a Centrino label. The absence of wireless card from Intel will leave you with the label for the processor, which in your case, Core 2 Duo.

To qualify for Centrino 2, your chipset has to be Montevina or later. If it's Santa Rosa, it'll be just Centrino, even if you have a Core 2 Duo processor.

Huh... i just got my studio-xps 13 with special lunch deal n now came to the 16 ... wow! It's seriously cheap with the Rm600 cash redemption. For ur information, if there is another promotion like Rm200 cash redemption, the Rm200 can be used 2gether with the Rm600 which in result: Rm800~~~ rclxms.gif

Anyway ... finally im joining this family ~~~~ here r my studio xps 13 spec:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.40GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 3MB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium 62 bit SP1 Edition (English)
Microsoft® Office Home & Student 2007 OEM
1-year XPS Premier Service with 1-year CompleteCover
13.3 " Widescreen WXGA (1280x800) WLED Display with integrated 1.3MP webcam
4GB (2X2GB) Dual-Channel 1067MHz DDR3 SDRAM
500GB (7200 RPM) SATA Hard Drive
Slot Load 8X DVD + /-RW Drive with double layer write capability
256MB NVIDIA®GeForce® 9500M-GE with Hybrid SLI® Technology
Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio Software
Dell™ Wireless 1510 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card (MY)
Dell™ Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module (MY)

anyway ... the laptop looks cool , very stylish and i love the leather design very much...
the monitor and the color is super super nice compare to my previous dell's notebook =___=
backlit keyboard is a plus .... nice preference.... nice touch pad ..... etc etc
well ... it wont get very hot in non-gaming environment but very hot after playing games ... well... it's still acceptable since im not using it on my lap ..... blush.gif

the weakness so far i found is ... only 2 USB port, no remote control.
and the most irritating thingy .... MY FINGERPRINT ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
