Dell is sending me XPS 16 as replacement unit for my M1530, after a tech support nightmare.

The screen will be 15.6" 1080p, for those who have the 15.6" screen, may I know how big is the dead space? can I have close shot picture to have a look at the edges?
Thanks.

my tech support experience for this episode was really a nightmare though. A lot of time wasted, might not even be justified by a new XPS 16.

Centrino is just a marketing brand by Intel. Your computer needs to have certain Intel chipset, processor, and wireless card to qualify for a Centrino label. The absence of wireless card from Intel will leave you with the label for the processor, which in your case, Core 2 Duo.

To qualify for Centrino 2, your chipset has to be Montevina or later. If it's Santa Rosa, it'll be just Centrino, even if you have a Core 2 Duo processor.

Currently they have lunchtime deals for XPS Studio 16, where you can get RM 500 off from 21st - 23rd July, if the order is done during 1200 - 1400 hrs.

In the US site, upgrading to ATi 4670 requires USD 100, which is around RM 350 after conversion. But don't know if they'll raise the price here...

you mean changing the existed ATI 3670 to ATI 4670 just for USD100?
*
That's for the US. I don't know about Malaysia, maybe you can give them a call, thought I think they might tell you the option is not available yet.

Is it even upgradable after purchase? I thought that'll require you to change the whole motherboard, as the graphic card is soldered to it. Not too sure though...

Sometimes PC Fair deals not as good. For instance, my current XPS unit, bought with PC Fair price of RM 300 cash off, however at the following week, it was RM 300 + 500 cash off. Luckily the agent allowed me to pay the new price by refunding the excess, if not, sure emo...

Yes,it work! u can switch on/off ur laptop in the remote control also
*
On/Off? You mean the XPS Studio 16 comes with its own remote control? I was thinking of using the one for M1530...

Edit: Just read your previous posts.... Looks like you got it with the TV tuner. Is it possible to get it seperately?

Last year I bought my M1530 with the PC Fair deal of RM 300 rebate. However, on the following week, they still had the PC Fair RM 300 rebate, but this time with another rebate of RM 500. Fortunately, before I pay, my sales agent told me that if there's a significant price change within a week, I can demand a rebate, which I did in the end smile.gif

Southeast Asia only? I think it's Asia Pacific, which includes Australia.

complete cover covers for theft and seasonal hazards for example floods and so on... read more in dell website please...

I think it's only covered for theft if you purchased CompleteCover Guard, which doesn't come with the normal CompleteCover.

I does get pretty warm after long hours of usage. Never really tried it on Vista, but I find that 7 is much better in performance in my M1530.

Oo.. Great might get it loaded on my sxps16 as well... Where did u go to get the drivers for it?
*
I'm using 64-bit Build 7600. Drivers most of them can use Vista x64 drivers, which can be downloaded from the Dell Support site. However, I realised that the sound driver doesn't work (using the default HD audio driver in win7), the Intel Wireless 5100 won't work either (but win7 provided a driver for it). Currently, I'm also experiencing some minor problem from the keyboard, but the problem no longer exist after removing the Synaptics driver, thought I still have not confirm that the Synaptics driver is the culprit. Anyone here have such a problem with their keyboard? where the ctrl key is intermittently activated, hence for example when you type 'o', it becomes ctrl + o at times...
