17-50mm f/2.8, a famous sharp lens, but sometimes the color can be a little bit warm..

why u use ISO 1600 with exposure time 1/1000 ??

guys.. should i sell my d40 and upgrade to d50 ?? lol..

i know it is not much of a upgrade.. but really didn't have much budget for d80, or d90.. lol..

reason to d50, of coz is for the AF-motor, I can try those old, nice optics and cheap lenses..
more AF-points,
slightly bigger, top panel LCD looks more pro..

reasnon not to d50,
second hand unit,
LCD smaller,
miss my d40

haizz...

wah... d80 body only 2k..

d90 noise controlling really poisonous..

lol..

most lenses can be used with d40, just that u cant AF with it.

look for the AF-S for motorized lenses to AF with D40, or look at the first page of this thread.. there is a long list there..

oren, can u explain why max bokeh can be achieved with the kit lens at a focal length of 55mm and biggest aperture? i know that nice bokeh can be obtained when using big apertures, but as to the max focal length, i dunno yet. Thanks! biggrin.gif
*
bokeh = out of focus = shallow depth of field.

the longer the focal length, the shallow the depth of field.

the closer the focus distance, the shallow the depth of field.

yesterday i went to shoot a kindergarten concert events. The kids performances are cute and active.. but the lighting there is very dim..

just like normal hall, the ceiling is very high, can barely bounce a little bit of flash..

using my kitlens, at widest aperture on 55mm, i have to use at least iso800 get enough of light from the bounced flash, what's more, the kids are moving very fast, to stop the action, at least 1/100 is needed,

no choice but i have to use iso1600, 1/100, widest aperture, flash 1/1 bounced up. any ideas guys ??

that's the thing i keep in my mind all the time that day..

tried bounce the flash with bounce card to the subject.. but the result is not that natural, but of coz, less noise, all action stopped.

fill in flash ? how about the shutter speed ? the ambient light is not that strong..
the kids are moving fast, they never stop.. lol.. they just keep moving..haha

I'm not particular to needing f/2.8 for low light; I use slower lenses and crank up the ISO.
