sifu sifu outthere, i cant seem to adjust my shuuter speed in low light conditon to which i can freeze my object without flash.. izit posible tat i can do tat in low light cos is really bothering me when i use auto mode or flash.. and one more thing is i cant take continuos photo, my camera only able to take 4 or 5 pics and stop! izit bcos of the slow memory card cos every time after took one pic i hav to wait the yellow light to go off b4 i can view it..is not straight after. my memory card is nikon 2gb.

u can try use flash + long expose time.. u will get nice ambient light + subject frozen.. however, there will be blur motion on ur subject becoz of the movement. Sometimes it is nice, sometimes not.

it is called slow sync flash,
can be used with rear sync or front sync, depends on ur style..

panning, set the focus mode to AF-C mode..

shutter speed depends on the speed of the subject.

VR can let u use slower shutter speed, but however, slowe shutter speed is not useful all the time.. i learned that, even i can hold for 1/5 with VR, my subjects cant.. lol.. so i opt to high iso and flash..

the 3 photo themes,

1) Indulge Metropolitan
2) Mess in Rules
3) Goes Green

1)

user posted image

Indulge, the guy is enjoying taking a photo of a car that is shown on the main entrance of the complex.
That's the best i can get from this theme.

2)

user posted image

Rules, they are actually few rules set inside the photo,

i) Red shirts vs 1 small blue shirt child
ii) Red shirts photographers, blue shirt child is the subject

the messiness, one of the red shirt lying down and the subject wonder what happened, the others red shirts were laughing.

however, from the winning photo, looks like i got the them interpreted completed different, which i lol'ed.

3)

Added on November 3, 2008, 1:24 pmoh daymm. just googled and found out that my sb-600 doesn't have this function. sad.gif

u can try multiple exposure shots..

set up ur flash and camera on tripod, set the focus, put into manual so it wont hunt the focus later,
put it into burst mode, u might not able to use 1/1 flash power since it is not recharging fast, use lower power,
u should have a series of shots,
merge them in to PP.

Good luck smile.gif

can only press 1 time only, for 3fps (raw). how come?  laugh.gif  doh.gif
*
that trick is using one single exposure shot. By pressing the flash manually rapid, will create the image of the subjects.

get the d40, serves u well for few years, or maybe month,

got budget, jump to d80 or d90..

if u dun wanna jump, d40 still serve it as good as the d40x and d60 with a cheaper price.

now u got the math ?

slightly better lens ?? the kit-lens is a good one and cheap one.

no need to replace it if u are not looking for some other purposes lens.

or be like me, using D40 with D60's kit lens.. lol.

D60 does have the electronic range find mode.. not sure how to activate it. Basically it just tells u your subject in focus or front/back out of focus.
