Has anyone installed a ceiling fan with bi-directional rotation function?

Any feedback on its effectiveness in this climate and whether it is worth paying the premium to get one?

Another question, has anyone bought ceiling fans off Taobao or AliE? They sure have some very nice designs and reviews but a bit apprehensive.

Any suggestion which brand and model that I can buy for ceiling fan?

1) Is it better AC or DC? Any pro and cons using either AC or DC

2) KDK and Panasonic

4) Power Consumption

5) After Sales Service

My current choice is KDK K14YZ OR KDK K14XZ AND K15Z5(DC)

Any experience using these models?

When it comes to ceiling fans it is mostly a case of your budget and preferences towards the design.

AC vs DC? Pros of the DC is it is less noisy, more power efficient and usually less resistance. The cons are the pricing which is usually more expensive than an AC motor one and that translates to both purchasing and repairs, the other con is it is more sensitive to power surges and a bit more sensitive.

KDK vs Panasonic? Panasonic owns KDK and their major components are identical. My KDK remote in the living room can also operate a Panasonic fan at the dining area.

Most recently I needed 2 smaller sized fans, I bought a Rubine Ampio and an Alpha Vannus Pico. I am very satisfied with both and cheaper than buying an equivalent KDK or Panasonic.

Depend on the power of the motor and the weight/angle of the blades.

Both fans are DC.

Both are left to run on reverse full speed 24/7 and been so for 2 weeks now. I have no complaints on it and it is still very silent and very stable despite being installed by someone that never installed a fan before this.

The only thing I do not care that much for is the light on the Alpha is not the best as the colour temperature makes it look as if the bulb is on its way out.

If I were to buy it again I would definitely buy another Alpha as it is value for money at only rm329 with 5 years warranty.

3 vs 5 blade? No such thing as 3 better than 5 or 5 better than 3 as there is no such thing as a fan with 3 or 5 blade where everything about it is 100% identical. Even that KDK fan where the design looks identical minus that one is 3 and the other is 5 has some differences with the blade pitch and some brands the motor is more powerful but it does not have as high a rpm where it is a 5 blade. Like I said previously it will be on the basis of taste and preferences.

Usually people run on reverse to warm up the place for fall/winter. May I know the rationale behind running in reverse?

There are 2 reasons for this.

The first reason is when used with an open window it will remove the hot air from the ceiling area thus minimising the load on the air conditioner.

The second reason is where it is used in a room with air conditioning the cool air will blow from the 4 corners of the room rather than downwards, this helps a lot in keeping the room cool, minus the dry air often associated with air conditioned rooms and finally it also helps to better stratify the cool air around the room.

comparing between the bayoo 4 5 stars and vtouch jr..
i dont mind if its 1 star coz vtouch wind is gooding

actually fans wont take that much electricity to run once its moving; its not so great a difference

even under heavy usage 10 hrs per day everyday.. it only cost 24 bucks more per year for a 20W difference

cutting down on electric kettle usage and aircon usage for few days will immediately feel more savings laugh.gif

Sensa 4 9 speed control
Vtouch jr 5 speed

both has yuragi function brows.gif
Sensa 4 looks better lah but other than that its just aesthetics and DC motor/AC motor diff.

CAPEX
Sensa 4 around RM515 or so. Vtouch jr RM407 or so.

OPEX
For direct comparison of power ratings..one use 119kwh/year the other 228kwh/year
If taking second tier 0.338 thats 33.8/year difference

Hello, some feedback on Rubine Forza fan… this has LED light and remote control. Appearance quite good. However, the biggest drawback is that main power switch only operates the fan, not the light. Hmm…. why do we buy fan with light…? to light up the room so as to be able to find the remote control and not fall over stuff on the floor…. Rubine confirm that main switch only operates the fan…. Why not both fan and light or just the light? Most important is to be able to see where you are going. Don’t care that the fan is on in the dark if we can’t find the remote control….

Does anyone know which ceiling fan with LED light can switch on LIGHT from main power switch? No matter LIGHT or LIGHT+FAN together, need to find one that can use as ceiling light when go into room and use wall switch. No point having LED light if have to try to find remote control in darkness....

Hi looking for help here as I will enter new house soon. Between Bayu 5, Nami 4 and Econavi 4
F-M14HWVBSQH, which of these are suitable for my 200sqf living room? Bayu only have 3 speeds so i'm afraid if it cannot take the room size.

If any sifus here already write a review on these 3 models, i would like to know on which pages. Thank you.

Recently bought a Rubine Vetta ceiling fan that supposedly has 4 speeds

Realistically though speeds 1, 2 and 3 are about the same uselessly slow speeds that you can barely feel in a small living room. Speed 4 is a huge jump and it spins far too fast. I bought this to replace a manual fan that's almost 20 years old, the new fan is quiet but otherwise it's a downgrade

I don't recommend the Rubine Vetta

Go for the KDK Sensa 4/5 or V-touch Jr.
These have better blade angles than the standard sub RM300 fans eg bayoo.
The (brand new) bayoo 4 i have is a windless wonder.

i wanted to revive 4 panasonic regulator ceiling fan (and saved on my renovation costs).

so took it down, separate the blades and sprayed all of them flat black. this would suit the monochrome design we were after - with all white walls partnered with black fittings.

however, now that all work is done, i have put the blades back (having all mixed up!) and run the fun. however the flow is no longer even and the vibration is terrible...

before i go out and replace them all with the bayu 4 blades - i would be grateful for any suggestions on how i can fix this mixed up?
