Is it advisable to buy a DC powered ceiling fan compared to AC powered? The reason why I’m interested to get DC powered is because it’s more energy saving and won’t be noisy or problematic in a long run compared to AC. The problem is, DC powered fans are twice the price..

Nope, AC fan proven more reliable in the long run. Feel free to browse through this thread for those DC fan slowing problem just only few years of usage and hassle of replacing capacitor.

AC fan with regulator box? Just open the dust cap and capacitor was there.

Anyone got person to contact who can repair panasonic fan in ipoh?

I dont wanna call panasonic technician coz everytime I called them, they charge 100+ for a fix of less than 2 minute. Then few weeks later, the problem start. Around 3 times already i called and the problem always pop up few weeks later.

Problem is if I run at the maximum speed, it sounds like a motorboat engine. Mine is the remote controlled one, with 3 speed.

Are the Panasonic Nami 4 blade better than the Bayu 5?
I noticed that the Nami 4 energy usage sticker shows only 2 star. Does it consume alot more energy compared to Bayu 5 (5star).
Any owner can advise?

Thanks.

Alpha fan Excel how reliable it is? And how it fares if compare to panasonic bayu 5??

based on my calculation, it takes me 5-7 years to offset the price different with electric bill. features i dont think i really appreciate what offered by Alpha due to mostly i use fan only without aircond.

Alpha 5-46W
Panasonic Bayu 21-69W
If compare at max speed = 69-46 = 23WpH x18h per day = 414W/Day
30days = 12.42kW
my home bill around RM40-50 per month.
so calculate with RM0.218 kWh, 0.218*12.42 = RM2.7 per month saving.
Alpha lets say RM600, and bayu RM300, 300/2.7 = 111.111/12months = 9.25years.

My preference for Bayu speed is 2, and Alpha is at least 3 to have same feel of wind flow.

So it is left with reliability, i am using a panasonic fan which is 15years already and it is still working, but with newer technology, remote control etc, can they last that long?
even with lifetime motor warranty by alpha, the PCB spoil also have to change fan if it is discontinued.

anyone mind to share experience or recommendation?
thanks

i ve been using Alpha since 2011 till now so far ok
only replace capacitor when the fan speed is weak

i struggled during buying the fan. want to get with remote/light, but the prices scared me, as i didn't know fan can be so expensive

after serious consideration, thats the few brand we took.

and i think that metal blade fan is much windy than 'fiber' fan.
