i wanna ask...if bringing duty free liquor out of Sg, will I be taxed? Tried searching the customs website but i cannot find concrete information.
*
I don't know about Malaysian, but for Singaporeans, we can't bring in any of these stuff from MY, at all as it is not considered going oversea simply because it can be just crossing the causeway. Just too close. I had read this years ago, but can't remember where I read it.

I wanna ask what is polyclinic singapore? Their consultation fee is fixed?? What does it mean by consultation? Only consult without any medicine given or??
*
Can't really direct you to anything, but I think minstry of health has a guide line on this.. somewhere for all GP too. Polyclinic is the so call Gov medical clinic which charged medical treatment at subsidise rate for local. Haven't been there for long time as I go visit my nearest practice Doctor more. I think its couple of $$ for consultation plus additional medicine charges. If I am not wrong, even the medicine charges are subsidised too. But being SG, nothing is free, no free lunch. you take care of yourself, you pay lesser medical fees. That's what the civil servants are told so the the fixed amount of medical subsidary allocated to each staff per year, the un-use portion will be channelled to our CPF medic-save account.

When you pay, the entire list of price including the amount being subsidised are all listed on the reciept. You may want to check Singhealth website for more info. However, foriegners and PR will have to pay more. Its no long the same rate anymore as announced since last national day speech where PM Lee changed the rule to make at least one distinct different between foriegner and locals (especially those serving NS). Of course, foriegner will pay even more.

used to see vendor coming back middle of the night to troubleshoot machine, engrs are always standby & need to be in the line most of the times. i guess this happen in all wafer fabrication industry, including chrt. there're ppl who can stay real long there too. brows.gif

Ok, may I know wat is more worth to buy in Malaysia than in Singapore in terms of daily nessesities bcos I am going back to M'sia tomolo after I miss my homeland for about 6 mths.
AFAIK, 3in1, shampoo, computer hardwares, stationeries, snacks and rice are all worth to buy in M'sia after conversion. What else, I wanna make full use of my car. haha
*
My only advise for you, you should track what you buy in SG, then you would know what is cheaper, buying in MY or SG. I only even certain essential items, after converting, SG is still cheaper. So beware of what you buy. Johnson & johnson shampoo, buy in SG. most items you mentioned are cheaper after conversion. don't buy Ferroro Rocher, its crazy expensive in MY. M&M is cheap, but China made? beware.

Actually, some places in SG you can find cheaper items of similar breand from say Thailand, Vietnam and even Philipines. They can be or even cheaper than you find in MY supermarket. Just that you need to know where these stores are located. e.g. Value$ shop, however, again not all items are cheaper. but generally yes. So really depends on where you shop. I also shop during sales period, like year end, I get 20% discount from popular, can get stationery cheaper, after discount, cheaper than Popular MY (my experience during Dec Mega sales period). However, I am not sure Popular MY offers such promotions. Time your purchase and I think you can still get cheap stuff in SG.

I ever see friends load off heavily from across and back to SG thinking that they had a bargain, but often, items they took, I can find it either margainally cheaper or sometimes more EXP than SG. buy for the sake of buying? Like you said, to maximise your car spare, than buy....

Toothpast
Fruit juice (coolder bag to store?)
milk powder
clothes washing detergent
dish washing detergent
Mr Sun soup package - if you like to boil herbal soup.
Johnson&Johnson shampoo - Don't buy mostly cost > SG
Medical products from Pharmacies - limited brands, but still okay

hey guys..i just got a question about working in singapore

I just graduated with my bachelors degree and I'm thinking of looking for a job in SG but I see a lot of job ads stating that only singaporeans or singaporean PR are only eligible to apply. But since my dad has PR status, can he help me apply for it too as a dependent so it'll be easier for me to look for jobs? He said that i might risk getting drafted into NS if he applies for me..so thats the only thing he's worried about.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

No worries. Just apply those job even stated singaporean or SPR. My job requirement also stated singaporean and have car transport. Me? I am Malaysian and without car transport. Still I got the job due to the skills I have. But many jobs that I applied turned me down, due to the requirement they stated. I have eventually send out my resume to 300+ company. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

PR and Citizen is different. Citizen require you to join NS. Unless your dad from PR change to Citizen. Then you have to go to NS.

Your dad help you to apply PR? Can, no problem, what it will take some time, let's say 3 months? Can you afford for being jobless for 3 months+? Don't forget the period of looking for a job. Economy isn't good now actually, many company trying to cut cost, came out in the newspaper.

Anyway, Good Luck. smile.gif
