another quote from user of both ta2020 and ta2024, this guys play lots of t-amp
QUOTE To my ears, and to the ears of many others who've written to me about these amps, the TA2020 based amps like the Charlize and AMP6 have a fuller, bigger sound than the TA2024 amps like the Trends, Sonic Impact, Super-T, Fenice20 etc. But the TA2024 seems to be the winner for the micro details, that certain magical thing that it's hard to put a finger on. Magic is about as close as I can come to describing it. The sort of thing that triode lovers rave about. Though they don't really sound like triodes. So you pays your money and you takes your choices. The Charlize and AMP6 have a wonderful rich midrange and good solid bass. The Trends has a certain "je ne sais quoi" detailed magic. So I think it comes down to taste, your system and what is important to you. I tend more toward the big bass and full midrange, but do understand the desire for that ethereal magic of the Trends. Is there a chip with both? In most cases, the power supply will make more difference than the chip. Input caps matter, too. Sorry if that isn't much help, no clear winner. But for me there isn't. That has been my experience and that of many others I've talked to. I tend to listen to the TA2020 simply because it will play louder. Added on August 21, 2008, 2:09 am QUOTE(Y.C. @ Aug 21 2008, 01:20 AM) For info of all: A DIY Charlize (TA-2020) monoblock available for sale for RM480 where owner claimed amp was built with premium parts of Blackgate N capacitors, Jensen paper-in-oil capacitors, Aircore inductors, heavy duty gold plated RCA jacks and binding posts and Hammond metal casing all costing more than RM1,200 excluding labour charges. wow kinda nice...Interested, check this out: amp at the moment i guess i better max the usage out 1st of my ta2024 balance setup here i come!!! QUOTE(jazzy939 @ Aug 21 2008, 10:08 AM) xtorm, haha tht kind of thinking kinda correct let's see what the quotations will be like. From a meagre 6 watts jump into a 'light speed' of 200-300 watts, 'few' hundred bucks is STILL worth it! Don't you think so? NOT that you're gonna play at FULL power, but the extra headroom does helps in the dynamics. Then again, provided the fidelity is as good as the Tripath.. which is going to be our, well, my benchmark now. WE'll never know until we sampled one, right? but somehow tripath is the only famous d-amp, or t-amp as tripath calls it...mayb ta2022 is a good investment? QUOTE(ongbs @ Aug 21 2008, 10:12 AM) hehe...bro jazzy then make the 1st sample yours wah your fomula ada beara percent chun? scaryler, if so few klor!!aiyo, I wrongly wrote the formula then...since it is mono block, my post #228 formula still need to x2 |

audionote making good money with small watter eh bro jazzy u play with ta2022 b4? or was it another t-amp? QUOTE it is almost a sin not to try it out if we happens to be on the look out for an amplifier. bro Y.C...hahhaa thts a pretty good statement, you heard charlize before, once you have done yours give us your feed back, i think in the original form ta2024 is no match to charlize, those input cap must be change! |
