Hehe.. King Donuts it is! tongue.gif

From my review, it is obvious that the higher the inductance, there would be some high frequency roll off noted..
damn! only if I have an oscilloscope..

The thump is quite noticeable expecially at night! I can't help it, just an uncomfortable feeling.
Still, the anti-thump circuit is no big deal to make/install wink.gif

Don't worry, I will only solder the solderables<-- is there such a term? tongue.gif

QUOTE(ongbs @ Sep 2 2008, 12:43 PM)
hehe...what to do...king donuts mah tongue.gif

It do cut some high end frequency but others I can't tell yet coz myself also not sure the SQ became better or worse sad.gif
Damn...me jealous you got a pair of sensitive ears now  doh.gif  laugh.gif

You may solder anything else but not your own hand  whistling.gif

That Technics meter is proprietary..
I would use a normal (volt)meter.. backlite.. should look 'cool' in the dark.. wink.gif
Meters are easy to get in JP..

The panel meter will look something like this:
The back panel can be changed.. wink.gif

QUOTE(ongbs @ Sep 2 2008, 01:57 PM)
show the pic of the actual meter first tongue.gif
That Technics meter look kinda big, can fit your casing?

poto mali... laugh.gif

Welcome back! rclxms.gif We thought you were on an extended holiday while enjoying your T-Amp.. tongue.gif

Hopefully you will be able to return your notebook to normal.. Kinda quiet without you around.. hehe.

Oh ya.. last weekend was 'hell' getting in/out of KL.. Thank God I have no need to be in KL sweat.gif

Curious: How much did you pay for the SMPS? From the Online-Components shop with the leng lui? tongue.gif

Great! The components are starting to come in.. tell us when, we'll pick it up from you.

Thanks for the update Y.C. You've got a lot of reading to do! tongue.gif

QUOTE(Y.C. @ Sep 2 2008, 02:58 PM)
Hi all, my most humble apology for my ‘disappearance’ during the long weekend. I was in town but just unable to go online and post comments on T-amp at LYN forum. Reason being my notebook PC infested with spywares since Friday night and whenever I went online, I’d be unable to open the relevant page of websites I wanted to as the spywares would immediately take over and start sending out (instead of receiving) huge packets of bytes (info). I’ll need to take care of this before further postings.

Traffic into the city on last Saturday was bad with massive jam everywhere; reached JP at 16.30 and managed to buy a 12VDC 2.5A computer-styled SMPS plus other some tools and items I needed but missed out picking up a DC socket (as I wanted a round shaped unit), so failed to listen to my T-amp. I will hunt for one these 1 – 2 days’ time and in the meanwhile only worked with my too thick Rosewood casing.

Vishay BC 0.1uF 63V and 0.47uF poly caps arrived from Farnell S’pore today, now only awaiting for Vishay BC 20k ohm 1% metal film resistors from Newark, New York over the next couple of days before I could hand them to Xtorm and Jazzy. I managed to picked up some Vishay BC 2.2uF 63V 10% tolerance polypropylene caps, got 3 pcs extra to spare as I only need 2, anyone? PM or sms me.

Added on September 2, 2008, 6:42 pmHa, that is nice casing. GodLuvSxs. Interested with your casing here.

Added on September 2, 2008, 8:43 pmRM180 sounds reasonable enough.. please COUNT ME IN! thumbup.gif

About the other casings, show us some pix or links please.. biggrin.gif TQ.

QUOTE(GodLuvSxS @ Sep 2 2008, 08:33 PM)
It's RM180 for the whole thing including shipping to Malaysia, the RM170 price was few months ago price, my friend just help me confirm that it's RM180, sorry for the confusion. For those guys who are interested to get a extra thick gold plated copper rca socket along with the casing, just RM25 a pair(2 sockets)

If interested then should grab it biggrin.gif If u dont want amp casing, the supplier got DAC casing, headamp casing with similiar design too!

xtorm,
your supplier, do something like what exactly? Customized as in we specify dimensions/colors /type of finishes?
10 is ok what, you buy 8, I take 2.. hahahaha laugh.gif

Yes, the DAC casing quite nice for RM170. Why not ask to the 'internal' dimesions and see if you can squeeze 3 T-Amp in there! tongue.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Sep 3 2008, 09:19 AM)
haha, my supplier too can do something like tht, fully customize to our taste, but atlest 10 to start it sad.gif

the dac unit kinda nice, wonder if it can fit 3 pieces of t-amp in

That's not a big problem.. tongue.gif

Why don't you sell a 'complete' package?
Starting with the Basic model, no mods, right up to an Enhanced model with all the goodies? Ready to PLUG n PLAY! brows.gif
I think there is a market for this... wink.gif I'll just take 10% commission for this idea.. laugh.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Sep 3 2008, 10:08 AM)
yes, if you can come out with an autocad drawing then it will follow tongue.gif

haha 8...hmmm, goto see if i can sell this as an amp tongue.gif haven got the chance to go my friend place

yes.. that price range is affordable.. tongue.gif

moded package will depends on the mods itself.. customised it with a customised pricing.. thumbup.gif

I think this would make a good business, no? tongue.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Sep 3 2008, 11:53 AM)
wahahhaa

yea i did thought of that b4

simplest plastic housing rm80-90 is fair right? without power supplylah tongue.gif

mod follows with different requirement tongue.gif

15% ah...then i better do it quietly hahaha

Added on September 3, 2008, 11:55 amhmm for the casing the price almost the same...mayb just slightly cheaper...shipping is costly

xtorm,
I am quite happy with the TA2024.
The most important thing the "Value For Money" with regards to it's sonic performance.
I doubt if the TA2020 would beat it in that area... tongue.gif

Above this level, we'll be looking into GainClone area and other chip amplifiers (TDAs etc) which are still in the affordable area..

I'll give it a pass, for the time being.. wink.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Sep 3 2008, 12:16 PM)
ta2020 any1??

but its kinda costly....sad.gif if i wan reliable item, which i rather sell

it will cost nearly 40-45 each.... and thats the chip only. since it is not smd type, its really easy to work with

as you guys know, china is all about fake, even fake IC and cheapest stuff you can find are no quality at all, if i wan it good i rather get it qc tested before sending it to me

Exactly! I bought parts to build my GC but was put onhold due to the power supply issues. Darn expensive that darn toroidal transformers! mad.gif
In the end, I gotta build the T-Amp wink.gif Cheaper and faster laugh.gif

Still I would want to complete building the GC and see how it would fare to the T-Amp.. wink.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Sep 3 2008, 12:29 PM)
GC kind cheap too...but the only overkill is the power supply part...

I was wondering the same too! tongue.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Sep 3 2008, 04:11 PM)
haha yea...very cheap solution

well from review mostly mention slightly wider soundstage and thicker sounding, which i think it is why it sounded natural.

duno if the balance thingy have the same effect...

gabanyayaya,

xtorm,
really ah? SQ is on thing, but enough POWER to really drive the speakers and overcome the usual noises when car is moving? tongue.gif

Yar lor... Its just a hobby.. we take it one day at a time.. sometimes may takes longer than that! wink.gif

xtorm,
if the 'aeroplane' sound is coming even while the headunit is on car battery, then sad to say nothing much you can do except changing the headunit! tongue.gif
Nothing much either if the car sound proofing is also not so good.. but this you can do something about it.. wink.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Sep 4 2008, 01:04 AM)
goto almost max the head unit for really loud listening, which is kinda unbearable, max volume 63, we on till 60 tak boleh tahan the ear tongue.gif...but his cd player is low end type, so output voltage so so only, andthis wasnt active setup, just plain component speaker with crossover, he is definitely edicted! but goto solve the aeroplane sound issue....
i think pretty much t-amp limit, ngam ngam

i got a damn noisy car too, was into performance last time tongue.gif but its still loud enough...
