enternal x-over like this one

x-over is hard to build right....how do you measure.....
*
Not measure, tune with my own ears smile.gif

I just replaced some components till the sound suite me.
Different type of drivers behave differently so technically each speaker should pair with specific crossover only.

So I am in doubt so called "Universal" passive crossover does ever exist?
If really want to call universal, those electronic active crossover (variable) will be more suitable to this term wink.gif

Well, i am using linear psu, made up from normal transformer,LM7812,and 2 e.caps. Sound ok to me, but i havent got chance to try with SMPS yet. Think of salvage from notebook power adaptor. What do u guys think?
*
Why not? As long as you may get 12V to 13V type wink.gif

Yes, I change both the cap, increase the mid from 47uF to 150uF, cut the high from 3.3 to 2.2uF smile.gif
Sounds pretty nice for me.

Haven tune the low side (bass) yet tongue.gif

2-way one also need to fine tune hmm.gif

xtorm,
I am pleased to say that the 'relay' board does NOT affect the sonic performance of my T-Amp.
An extended listening session last nite with some new CDs I've got came out satisfying.. tongue.gif

Since the installed board is an 'evaluation board', will be installing a 'proper' looking board soon and will be using the earlier bought OMRON relays. Will also do some internal wiring changes for more 'improvements' wink.gif
Anybody wanna try out my evaluation 'speaker relay/protection board'? biggrin.gif

SELAMAT HARI RAYA GUYS!  thumbup.gif
*
hehe good stuffs smile.gif

So now you just on the external power, sit and wait for the relay to turn on?

Y.C, I tested the ERO MKT 1822 2.2uF input caps...

My view is if your tweeter a bit harsh then it is a better match.
It do cut a little bit high details but slightly fully in mid/vocal.

btw, how much you pay for the Ero MKT 1822?

Ongbs,
Thank you for review on Vishay/ERO MKT 1822 2.2uF input caps.

Hmm, slightly less highs and full in midrange... could be just the antidote for my new board after SMD change........ hmm.gif

I am getting my input caps from Farnell; prices range from RM3.29 to RM5.36, see Vishay 2.2uF cap. Since I got 10 pcs together this time, I paid RM4.40 each.
*
aiya...I didn't know you get it from Farnell.
My friend help me to source at RM2.50/pc for 63V version, I bought 4 pcs smile.gif

ongbs,
are you happy with the Vishay/ERO MKT 1822 2.2uF input caps?
*
well, I just test one side, gonna test both side today after I completed the other half crossover upgrade.
I gonna test many input caps include hitachi, F-Elna, real Elna 3.3uF, [M] 4.7 E-cap and Vishay.
Hope I can hear the different and give some reports here smile.gif

oh really? an F-ERO? ohmy.gif Can you confirm this?

anyway, I have been reading about capacitors (as usual) especially what are the contributing factors that may affect the life of a capacitor.
The temperature and the working voltage(WV) greatly affect it.
Since our WV is 12-14VDC and by getting a 63V caps will definitely extend it's life.. less voltage, less temperature rise..
There are other issues.. but as far as WV are concerned and size permitting, I'll go with the highest I can afford.. wink.gif

Here are some input caps I gonna try out:

Jazzy,
As usual I only need 2 pcs; the rest were quickly snapped up by the 2 guys I poisoned with our T-amp and after hearing the Vishay Roederstein MKT 1813 2.2uF 63V polycarbonates (of which I assume they are happy), they would gladly go for these MKT 1822 at practically half price of what they paid earlier.

Ongbs,
I would say RM2.50 each for the 2.2uF 63V input caps is very good price; Farnell online catalogue does not show them. Let's hope they are not F-ERO.  tongue.gif  My full respect  to you to really try out various input caps to select the best match with your speakers.  notworthy.gif
*
hehe, if all from Farnell then I will "bank-crap" earlier tongue.gif
Got it from my friend for RM2 - RM4 then OK lah.....

Ongbs,
Good that you could get the caps from a friend; I do not have such a friend here in K.L.  sad.gif
For me, it's either Farnell or Jalan Pasar but do not expect to get decent grade parts from the shops at latter place, moreover the petrol and parking costs to go Jalan Pasar is not exactly cheap either!
Jazzy,
The price of Epcos 10uF caps at Farnell ranges from RM9.85 to RM17.01 each; see listing here: Epcos 10uF caps
*
I have to rely on friends coz Ipoh not easy to find those stuffs smile.gif
Ipoh "flooded" by your caps (Y.C brand) tongue.gif

Before i forget, i would like to mention that expensive caps do not promise best of sound, its material and accurate value that should be looked at. But i know many appreciate their DIY gadgets and want the best, my advise is use boleh2 caps and for final "dont want to mode any more" caps change to better ones.

From my brief experience i found changing value and material of cap has the most kaw SQ change
*
....totally agreed thumbup.gif
That's why I bought so many types of caps...slow slow test and slow slow burn till I satisfy tongue.gif
I will use what I hear is the best, don't care about its brand/material..... cool.gif
