the patient survive!!!
im so touch he is now stronger! better at planing! planing in much detials now!! and he is sooo calm. now all tht in normal terms bass kick better now, and its abit louder positioning of instrument is better now. details..... some song with peaks is now gone!! all resistors measure 11.9X comparing to the ori 20k withmeasure 19.6x to 19.8x, i think tht helps alot in blancing the channel. |

Surgeon General Department Warning: May Induced UDMS(Uncontrolled DIY Mod Syndrome) Observation Report 5 hours burn in has lapsed, for a total of 7. These are the findings: Caution: References were made to original report, hence, 1. Feels like a thin 'veal' was removed from the soundstage.(probably due to the added burn in hours) 2. Cleaner, tighter, well controlled response esp. vocals and highs (added caps) 3. An impressive separations of instruments. (similar to ori) 4. Bass is a little bit defined, just a touch. A little too 'bland' for my taste. (almost no change) Conclusions: 1. With 2uF NP there's just a touch of sonic differences from stock configuration. 2. Removal of the polarized 1uF cap is recommended. 3. Patient 2 is now in better shape and performance, will kick ass soon! 4. Will induce Patient 1 to carryout transformation as per Patient 2 or better! Details and informations are true at time of writing. End of Report. I have been reading (as usual) and this is what I found:
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/nuukspot/decdun/t_amps.html Very important extract: "...In order of preference, I preferred the SMPS best, the battery, the regulated supply and then the wallwart. The SMPS was clearly the best sounding supply and once I had tried it, I had no desire to use the other supplies! Looks like I will be taking that direction.. |

.. more reading stuffs..
"Note : USE TWO OF THESE AMPS IN A BALANCED CONFIGURATION FOR EXTRA HEADROOM AND DYNAMIC POWER. TO DO THIS YOU ONLY NEED : - 1 RCA FEMALE INPUT PLUG THAT GOES TO TWO RCA OUTPUTS. YOU WILL OF COURSE NEED 2 OF THESE. - FOR THE SPEAKER OUT JUST CONNECT UP THE 2 + OUTPUT TERMINALS TOGETHER WITH SEPARATE SHORT JUMPER WIRES AND THE CONNECT THESE TO YOUR POSITIVE SPEAKER CABLE. THE NEGATIVE WIRE ONLY HAS TO CONNECT TO EITHER NEGATIVE OUTPUT TERMINAL. EASY AND BOY IS IT WORTH IT." Anybody wanna give this a shot? ongbs,
I had some difficulties too trying to make out what he was trying to say but, yes, as you said it, one board driving one set of speakers! Therefore, you need two boards to drive your stereo speakers! I'd rather go the bi-amp way QUOTE(ongbs @ Aug 17 2008, 09:05 PM) This post has been edited by jazzy939: Aug 17 2008, 10:05 PM |

i think he ment 2 +ve terminal joined and 1 negative terminal
then conect it to the speaker like usual meaning only 1 boards require per speaker hmmm...kinda risky right? xtorm,
risky? hmm maybe. but personally I wont do it Yes.. its all about high quality caps and that yellow thing although acceptable, can be better! That 10uF that I use does reduce the 'brightness' as compared to using just 2uF. I have this wild idea about bi-amping; the amp feeding the tweeter will have 2uF input caps, while the amp driving the woofers will have a 10uF input caps! Since I already have that configuration, I will do that!!! I'd say 4.7uF would be midway between my 10uF and 2uF experimentation. 6uF would be perfect!
4.7uF would be a lil bit 'more' bass Yes,quality is everything, that Panasonic caps would be just great! Where did you acquire it? QUOTE(ongbs @ Aug 17 2008, 10:31 PM) |

1uF would do the trick nicely.. if you're a detail freak..
I thought of going higher than 10uF however, since the EPCOS 10uF NP caps is performing so well.. I shall not progress further on that! Time to fire up the SMPS! This post has been edited by jazzy939: Aug 17 2008, 10:45 PM |

Where did you acquire it? I only try 1 ELNA 8200uf cap, with this big cap on, I tried to blast hard but the power supply draw current hardly >1A now, means the caps is functioning. Previously with 2x1500uF when blasting the A draw may go close to 2A. It got a [M] logo on it, does it Panasonic? I bought it from my friend. ongbs,
As long as you're happy with it, stay with it ! Yes.. big caps you have there! Saw the [M] logo. Panasonic? No idea. Have never used them before. Expensive? Whoa.. you even mod your speakers! Way to go! RM7/pc only, as long as I happy, not really care about the brand, it sound better than my previous Elna 3.3uf NP cap Speaker mod? yea, simple modification but audio varying a lot, just to suit my "old ears" that were abused by too much "good noise" as yours |
