QUOTE(Bonsailelong @ Nov 23 2014, 04:04 PM) Infected Ficus Microcapa This ficus microcarpa started "on the rock" training 2 years ago. [attachmentid=4229031] It was growing well and repotted a year later. It was then left at a corner of my yard without much attention. However, I was rather upsetting to find it infected with a leaf disease called Xanthomonas leaf spots where the leaves are full of brown yellow spots and already infected quite deeply. [attachmentid=4229034] [attachmentid=4229069] Xanthomonas leaf spot disease is caused by a bacteria called Xanthomonas campestris. It's a deadly leaf disease and that can kill trees if it's not taken care of. It usually can be cure by spraying copper base fungicide on the leaves. Looking around to buy the fungicide spray is a problem, and so I decided to give it a shot without using fungicide. It was first fully defoliated, then washed away all the soil sticking to the roots and allowed it to dry under the sun for about 15 minute. [attachmentid=4229079] [attachmentid=4229081] Repotted with new soil and re shaped. Keeping finger cross that it will work out. [attachmentid=4229090] [attachmentid=4229093] No more infection! |

QUOTE(Rnck @ Jan 26 2015, 09:40 AM) Can anyone tell me how to adjust the orientation of photos coz whenever i upload photos for posting it turns out disoriented ? Take yr hand phone photo at correct orientation if up load from phone photo. If from camera, down load to computer photo open with Microsoft manager, adjust the orientation n reduce size. Best size to upload without problems is +/- 900 x 7 or 800 pixels. |

Hi Rnk, You have a beautiful Brazilian Rain Tree. If you are willing to give it an intensive cut at the top branches and control the grow back, it will certainly become an awesome tree. Mind to post front and back photo of the tree? BTW, there is an awesome cucur attap at the back ground, can I ask where did you buy it from? For the boxwood, I wish to give a suggestion. Change to a bigger flat pot, Boxwood is a fibrous root specie, it prefer to have more room to grow side way. Do a little clean up trim at the lower part of the tree to expose the branches and do a little trimming at the canopy to make it look even so that as it grows it will not run out of shape.
