Hi Nzac, Tamarind can back bud easily. No worry of cutting away any unwanted branches. |

Infected Ficus Microcapa This ficus microcarpa started "on the rock" training 2 years ago. It was growing well and repotted a year later. It was then left at a corner of my yard without much attention. However, I was rather upsetting to find it infected with a leaf disease called Xanthomonas leaf spots where the leaves are full of brown yellow spots and already infected quite deeply. Xanthomonas leaf spot disease is caused by a bacteria called Xanthomonas campestris. It's a deadly leaf disease and that can kill trees if it's not taken care of. It usually can be cure by spraying copper base fungicide on the leaves. Looking around to buy the fungicide spray is a problem, and so I decided to give it a shot without using fungicide. It was first fully defoliated, then washed away all the soil sticking to the roots and allowed it to dry under the sun for about 15 minute. Repotted with new soil and re shaped. Keeping finger cross that it will work out. This post has been edited by Bonsailelong: Nov 23 2014, 04:09 PM |

QUOTE(mantra @ Nov 30 2014, 03:36 PM) Hi sifus, good day to everyone.my first posting in this section. Pls spare my ignorance on the world of bonsai. Still a newbie o sifus. Wanna ask for some guidance,of late a few of my trees were infected wit some spider-web type fungus(i suppose),white-ish web-ish on the trunk n some branches as in the attached pic.appreciate any advice on how to get rid of it.tq sifus If I'm not wrong, your Premna is "occupied" by spider mites, a kind of bonsai pest. This can be deal with quite easily. First water jet and brush to wash as clean as possible the whole plant. But before that, wrap the pot with plastic sheet to prevent any spider mites or eggs washed into the soil. Then spray a thin solution of dishwashing detergent over the whole plant. Do not wash away the detergent as it's not harmful to any plant and can also prevent any spider mite from "reoccupying" the plant. You have quite a nice "on the rock" Prenma. After cleaning, if you can post a clear whole photo of it, I might be able to give some suggestion in shaping if you wanted to. |

QUOTE(Nzac @ Dec 11 2014, 02:40 PM) Hi everyone..introducing latest addition malpighia@wild crape myrtle. Hi Nzac,Thinking of making it cascade. Got to follow bonsailelong's purple pink flowering bonsai..😁 You got a good one. Can I ask how much you paid for it? It can be trained to form double layer cascading with the top layer smaller than the lower one. But of course quite some branches have to be cut off. |

QUOTE(Anders @ Dec 19 2014, 09:05 PM) I don't have it's address but it has shifted further down, just after Semenyih town, just next to a Shell petrol station. If you are coming from KL direction, it's at the left hand side. Can see lots of big nice casuarina tree by the road side. |

QUOTE(Nzac @ Dec 23 2014, 06:31 PM) Hi Nzac, Ixora can be train to become a nice and beautiful especially when it full bloom. Here's a little suggestion to this Ixora. cut it short leaving about 8 inchs, trim away the smaller branches and plant it vertical. Post a photo if you have done that. Happy bonsai ing! |
