easiest way to get an interactive banner, i would say, check out at http://www.feedburner.com , everything is automated just like my signature. As for those fancy with pictures, perhaps if you hav some skill in photoshop do a banner by urself then upload to feedburner as well. simple.

For bloggers maybe you add a few SEO plugins like ALL SEO plugin. Helps a lot and also consider to change your permalink to make it more SEO friendly.
However remember to avoid duplicate content.
Use copyspace to check this.
Dupliacte content will automatically labeled by Google as low standard sites and will not help you to rank well in SERP.

6. 100% unique content, and include your keywords as anchor text.

8. Yahoo Answer ( Answer according to the question which related to your niche)
9. Social bookmarking.

and as for the seo plugin for wordpress, it is pretty simple as you just need to activate it and put your title, description and keyword at each of your post. Do not include keywords which irrelevant to your site cause you might get penalty from google. Moreover, quality content and strong backlink is needed so you won't face google sandbox effect.

for me, i rely almost entirely on content and word of mouth.

Yeap, no doubt bout it , content is king and the soul of the web but think about it, how many people are doing/writing the same niche/topic with you, without a strong and quality backlink, it is impossible to get into top 1000 in google SERP.
So a tips for people who want to get more traffic to their blog.

1. Post at least 2-5 comments on related niche dofollow's blog.
2. Post at least 2-5 reply to dofollow's forum, the best is niche related.

P/s : Do include your keyword as anchor text, for example if you keyword is money, you could try put money/money face/money lover as your name to post comments.

You can see significant result in a week.

And for blogger, it is very limited and they don't have any plugin for this. You have to do them manually. For my personal opinion, blogger is for beginner and once you can handle blogger, switch to wordpress.

Different between blogger and wordpress:

Blogger :
Advantage - They host for you, easy to use.
Disadvantage - very limited tools

Wordpress:
Advantage - Thousand of useful plugin, lots of feature
Disadvantage - self hosting

it's not just comments la. people put your site at blogroll also will add to your backlinks (also as inlink, or inbound link........ and more) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backlink

JoelWyn another thing is page rank, you should put it as pagerank (joined words) or PR. would be better or else people quite often think of it as result pages rank, which is different.

wordpress.org allows you to download the wp engine and host it yourself.

wordpress.com host for you, easy to use too. they have generally better features than Blogger and have nicer themes.

for wordpress.com, you can't put ad scripts. it's a disadvantage to people who wish to place ads.



blogger is good for beginner but they can always continue it when they are doing well.

wordpress also fine for newbie actually. so either way is fine.

try to avoid the switching part because of the hassle involved. you build PR on blogspot.com and backlinks already, then go new domain. all lost. or at least have to rebuild.
