just to share - site submission to search engines and directories aren't as helpful as getting site popularity as having good contents.

Besides good content + SEO, another method is using the current most popular social networking. forums... facebook... digg... comment on other blogs... etc, be active in blogosphere and social networking, it might help. Participate more, get exposure more.

My 2 cents for a good blog,

1. Good content
2. Post regularly
3. Mingle & join party, gathering, etc.
4. Be yourself

Those are just many ways. SEO helps you get visitors, but doesn't exactly make the blog popular.

as for posting frequency - it really depends on the blog. For me, my articles are anywhere from 3 to 7 days apart.

and i like your point #4 - BE YOURSELF, just as long as you don't be an ass, jerk or bitch la unless you want instant fame in a bad way.
