Ur budget? IF u can afford up to Rm 2 k ....and dont mind the big size of the camera

i suggest u to get Canon 1000D ...

if u want the best out from a small camera..then i suggest u buy lx3..

big = dslr

if small = lx3

i think go for LX3 1st la.
dun go forward too fast....
dslr is quite an investment...
somemore i think canon is more for the rich players...
while nikon shud suite more budget players.

Mind to share how actually I can take this kind of photo? Hong Kong's Harbour front panorama (stitched from 4 shots)

I know no ranking one la.

Panorama shots are simple.
If you have CS3 (or u can use Panny's provided Panorama Maker 4), just use the "Automate" function under "Files" and use "Photomerge".
Then select the few photos you wanna stitch together to become a panorama and the program will do the rest for u.

Anyway, b4 hand, you need to remember to take "overlapping" photos (20% of each shot is best).
What is meant by overlapping is to leave ~20% of your 1st shot in the 2nd shot you are taking, and ~20% of your 2nd shot in the 3rd shot u r taking, and so on, and so on.

So, if your photos are a sequence of numbers, you should take them like this:


Photo #1: [1 2 3 4 5]
Photo #2: [5 6 7 8 9]
Photo #3: [9 10 11 12 13]

And your final prodcut will be [1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13]

I was so surprise today... my got my adaptors and filters on my doorstep.. it was a fast delivery..

the reason why I have 2 adaptors and 2 lens cap is... the filters are actually come with it...
and I bought an adaptor before I found the filters.. sigh...

can't wait to test those filters!

for the 3 filters (UV, PL, ND) + len cap + 52mm adaptor cost me around rm 130 (incl shipping)

Do you want convenience or do you want to invest in a Dslr and Lenses.
If you feel the Lx3 suits you,like it suited me for the convenience, look no further.
Of course a Dslr is a Dslr...but you have to weigh the pro's and con's.

yea, ebay is a good stuff! shipping will be cheaper too from hk to msia..

the build quality is excellent, metal/aluminium... I have just got it and haven't really tested it...
new to filters as well...
will try it in the city, take some building photos... and will tell ya...

if u want something smaller....lx3... for f2.0 lens...

yea.. i think hk is pretty cheap..

before I bought lx3, I was thinking about dslr... but, it's too hassle to bring it around, it's big and heavy... and lens are so expensive...
no doubt, the lowest end dslr's capability is definitely better than any compacts dc lo...
at first, I was a quite disappointed when I got to know lx3 can't achieve bokeh effect (with people not macro)...
but, you know, nothing is perfect... after play with it for a while.. lx3 aint a normal point and shoot camera..!
