actually i am very confuse with Panasonic model..
is the LX3 compatible/under 'semi professional' camera category or compact camera category?
what is the diferent between LX, FX and TZ?
example LX3 vs FX150 etc?
*
Well to get more info you could log on to Panasonic Malaysia, camera
division and compare them.

It depends what sort of camera and budget you have.
Some might have telephoto lenses while others have
more wider lenses with better F/stops for low light condition.

Really,it depends on what sort of Photography you want to capture
and where you stand with your Money..hehe.

Yes, buying is not that much of a problem.
But i have to see if the telephoto end is more
important or the wider lenses with better f/stops.

Presently i am using a Nikon D50 with...
12-24mm Tokina f4 lens (great colours)
28-200mm Nikon G lens (very good lens)
50mm 1.8 Nikon Lens (cheap but good)
SB600 Nikon Flash

But you know what sometimes you wished you had a pocket camera,so that
you at times you dont need to lug all the above, which weighs a ton...hehe.

Will be traveling next month for a Month long vacation and sometimes i think a
compact camera with wide angle lens with better f/stops might do the job easily!.

Well have a month to think, maybe the price for Panasonic cameras will drop to a more
affordable level... smile.gif

The distortion is due to the lens being a wide angle (24mm). It is normal for a wide angle to have that kind of skew.

Right, i get it using my 12-24mm Tokina.
But nothing that a good software cannot fix.

Yo, thanks ionstorm!
Still quite noob at PP.
hhaha.... tongue.gif

But then after lens correction, basically u need to crop the photo rite?

Anyway, I am still not very convinced this is something that should happen.
I previously owned a FX01, and there was no such distortion throughout the 2 years I've used it.
Now I see a couple of quite serious case of distortion in the 1st month of using the LX3. cry.gif

Other LX3 owners noticed this occurance?
*
No you dont need to Crop, you just save it.
Cropping is another story.

My personal opinion is to avoid those fake batts like the plague.
You don't know what kind of cheap China made stuff you will be getting.
If the batt fails, it is still ok.....at most you will miss capturing some memorable moments.
If the batt fails and leaks juice into your ~RM1.7k gear.....you will be losing much more than just memories.
sweat.gif

I have to agree with you.
Fake batteries or battery can cause leakage, that will ruin your
expensive camera.
The price for the fake battery is probably less then RM10.00.
The salesman can say all he like, but with competition so great,
they may only profit from the Fake stuff that they sell.

The irony is that there will be people who will fall prey to these Vultures!..hehe

Dont have a LX3 yet, but am thinking of getting one soon.
Anyone regrets buying LX3?

Cheers

Hi,
All you guys and gals out there, i am impressed with your high praises for the LX3.
Having also gone through a couple of nightmares, i finally sold my Dslr camera and lens.
The problem was the fault of Jackel and Hyde personality in me.
One told me in the night not to sell and the other in the morning to sell.
So 10-15days of being indecisive, i finally let go of one of the personality and
SOLD.
Yes it was a big decision and if i had not taken it yesterday evening, i would have carried on and on.

Yes...i dont regret it now as i am typing and have a couple of other stuff to sell..but it should not be a problem.

Now..if you ladies and gentleman would come to my aid in a sense that i am looking to purchase this wonderful
camera...could you tell me :-

1). Where i could get the best price and with what accessories does this price come with...i mean the best deal. biggrin.gif
2). Is there any good lcd protection , that doesnt peel off like the chepo ones.

My preference would be of course a Black one.

Anything else to buy with this camera...coming from a Dslr i hope you could enlighten me!.. smile.gif

Sorry about the story type writing .

Note: Anything to check while testing, like barrel distortion..etc..etc

I await your valuable input... notworthy.gif
Phone numbers for the shops provided will be much appreciated

Thanks
From a Future Member..hehe

Hi LX3 fans..
I am planning to buy one LX-3 due to my trip.

The country that i am visiting is snowing...
Does it going to affect the camera in any way?

icon_question.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_question.gif

No, but of course taking pictures of the snow itself is a problem.. smile.gif
It wont affect your photos.
Seen a lot of people buying this camera at USA,England.etc..no one has complained.

I dont think you wil run into any problem.
But do a google and if other cameras can take pictures in smog, fog,
smoke ..etc. I am sure the LX3 can do the same.

Hi,
See if this helps, altough i dont have one yet, i have read alot
about this LX3.

Source: DPreview Panasonic forum....
"'I have tried tweaking the Standard film mode, but I don't think I've ever gotten "even close." I've got my last C2 custom setting built with the untouched Standard, Dynamic, and Vibrant modes plugged into the Multi Film mode, with no white balance changes, and I'll just use those "for kicks" occasionally.

I've tried changing some of the other modes, to no real satisfaction, either -- like "turning down" Dynamic.

Nostalgic still seems to be the key to accurate color, and I've seen no reason to change away from the usual "two steps toward blue, one step toward magenta" white balance adjustments.

Mainly, the original Nostalgic settings of Contrast +2 and Saturation +1 does indeed produce "oversaturation" to some degree, often mostly seen in reds. Though, I find this to be =very= similar in color to my Canon Pro1, so I =like= this setting in many ways. I'm going to "keep" it.

But, bringing down the Contrast and Saturation can make for some more accurate colors -- by all means, try doing that. For instance, just go ahead and bring everything but Noise Reduction down to "0" -- and give that a shot. My results so far have been very interesting. Bottom line, I will load up my main "Custom" setting with a Multi Film mode that'll contain the Contrast +2 and Saturation +1 setting, plus one with them at "0," and one other -- and I'm not quite sure where I'll go with the last one. But that's "where I am" right now. :-)".

Just helping.
Cheers

Always use a blower 1st and then a special cloth specially for cameras.

To all the LX3 owner's buddy here...mind to help out where can I get a good package for black colour at kl? I am going to survey and buy it tomorrow. Any recommendation?
*
Whatever you do, get the best price and also plse do
check for lens distortion as these cameras vary by sample.
Trying taking pictures and ask for the pictures to be uploaded to
a computer screen, and see if it shows any distortion and lack of sharpness!.

Hope this helps.

BTW: its a great camera.

I finally got my LX3 (black colour). I think the market is out of stock for black colour. I went to Sg.Wang, Low Yat, BB Plaza, Time Squre and KL Plaza, all of them are out of stock. I was nearly give up at the time and thinking of look at somewhere else like Digital Mall or Mid Valley. Since I was there and why not to Pavilion and try my luck. Thanks God there is a LX3(black colour) waiting for me at Pavilion.

I got it for RM1600. It's including Panasonic SDHC 4GB memory and a Lumix Pouch. Additional RM15 for screen protector. Plus free me a Sony mini pouch which is bigger than the Lumix pouch they gave me. (Since is free, who cares is Sony or not) hehe...

I told the supervisor that I got some friends are interested LX3 black colour too. So, if anyone here can't find it at any place maybe you can try to call them before you go. Sorry, the unit I bought is the last one according to them. I believe they will top up the stock soon.

Here's the contact
Lot 1.32.00, Level 1, Pavilion
Tel:03-2142 6486

I'll post the pouch/case they gave me later. Cause the battery is charging now. hehe...
*
Hi,
I tried dialing that tel. no...but its seems disconnected.
Could you re-post the new number.
Thanks
