Thanks in large part to the D410's greater integration, the system offers lower power consumption than the previous model, with a claimed
19 Watts (down from 28.8 W) in sleep mode, and
33 Watts (down from 38.85 W) during operation. The device is said to measure 7.0 x 7.0 x 9.3 inches (177 x 180 x 235mm) and has a net weight of about eight pounds (3.65 k). The single fan-cooled device can operate at temperatures ranging from 32 to 104 deg. F (0 to 40 deg. C), and operates at 36.8 dB with four 500GB hard drives installed, says Qnap.

And true to Intel’s word, the new Atom D510 shaves even more off of that diminutive figure, using less than
20W at idle and just over
26W under load. Of course, as we already know, the D510—Intel’s most powerful model for this generation—runs cool enough that it doesn’t require a fan, whereas the Atom 330/Ion combo on Zotac’s mini-ITX Ion board does. It’s almost eerie to turn the power on to Intel’s D510MO with an SSD attached because it literally makes no noise; the monitor just pops on and you’re up and running.
*Note: The setup use SSD.
From
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/atom-d...0mo,2507-8.htmlFrom the review, I see that there is not so much different in power consumption in both build. I also checked that DS110J and DS209 have maximum power consumption of 19W and 25w respectively.
For custom D510 set up, if change the SSD and add 4 HD, the reading must be more than that, probably 10-20w more. But still will be below 60W which can be consider low. Well, I don't have first hand experience, may be I was wrong.

Electric bill won't cost that much. Max running only rm40/mth. But add up a yrs will cost rm480. Use this rm480 add up can buy a 2bay synology NAS.

I also think about that. But it is really can reach Rm40/month? RM40/month for only running a custom build NAS, that really high. With my current pc spec (see my sig), my electric bill increase RM30/month when running 24/7. That's why thinking of reduce the bill with the NAS (with torrent function). But if it really can reach RM40/month, should be stick to my current spec la...
