for me....

at most....at night for weekdays....
and weekend...perhaps if too hot....
if not....ceiling fan will do..
so i dun think the cost effective theory will be that relevant to me....
some more compared to maintenance charge for Panasonic which i know is double the cost for maintenance charge of other brand without inverter

On the air cond all the time for 8 days:

without Inverter= RM58.00

with Inverter= RM26.00

8 days x 24 hours = 192 hours

so if above data is correct, then you have a saving of Rm 32 with inverter

so Rm32/192, 1 hour you save 17 cents compared to non inverter.

So if the gap of pricing of inverter and non-inverter air-cond is Rm200, (200/0.17) you need to use 1176 hours to breakeven before one can say inverter is starting to save you the money.

So if usage is low, you take up to 1-2 years to have a breakeven point before start to save.

So inverter air-cond is very much ideal for those heavy usage one. For low usage like 1-2 hours average per day, it has not much effect.

sure or not 30 cels, set at 30 cels is like setting heater temp ler because normally at night the room temp is lower than that. biggrin.gif

My electrician will be installing my air-con soon and he is asking me where I wanted to install my air-con outdoor unit. Basically there are space to install the air-con outdoor unit above and below the windows (I am referring to the 1st floor of my link house). Is there any differences where the outdoor unit is placed? I now have 2 options:

1. Place the outdoor unit directly behind the indoor unit (back to back), in which the outdoor unit will be placed above the window.

2. Place the outdoor unit below the window, in which the copper piping will be pulled up to the location of the indoor unit (conceal piping).

I looked around my neighborhood and most of them chose to install the outdoor unit below the window. But then there are few who installed above the window as well.

Either condition also the contractor charging me for the same amount. So, fellow forumers, please help to advice.

Just now when I google around I found out that there is actually a minimum piping length requirement between the indoor unit and outdoor unit. The min distance is like 4ft+. So standard back to back installation (above window) will fail this criteria. I am not sure nowadays the aircon contractor actually installing the aircon back to back for the really good sake of the aircon or for the good sake of himself (less copper piping to use and less work to do)

Oh, aircond prices actually went up? It's been steadily going down for as long as I can remember, just like computer or other electrical appliance's prices.

I'd got for Jap brand airconds. Korean ones are still problematic according to my electrical appliances repair man. If u use a lot, spend more on an inverter type, it'll pay back for its own higher purchase price. Electricity rates can probably only go up in the future.

Panasonic inverter airconds need special, bigger and thicker copper coils, while Daikin inverter airconds don't. But Panasonic CLAIMS biggrin.gif theirs can save up to 50% electricity consumption while Daikin only claims around 30~40%.

Please note that most inverter model air-con uses R410A refrigerant, which is environmental friendly. It won't cost any harm to the Ozone layers. The R22 refrigerant is harming the Ozone.

Well, I know the talk of environmental friendly is not relevant to some but it sure concern me. That's the other reason why I choose the inverter model besides its cost effectiveness. I am not trying to be a saint, but this is to preserve the planet, which your future generations are still going to live in. If everyone just doesn't care, then God bless the earth.

The best aircond brand is Sanyo and Panasonic. Panasonic is sometimes quite expensive and Sanyo is quite hard to find.

bro....

that RM1080 is for air-con only...
not inclusive of installation...
coz mine...everything related to installation is done by my renovation contractor.....

if i'm not mistaken...
if include installation...
it shud be somewhere around RM1.2k
but still....
even though we got that price...
the actual cost will depends on the location of ur air-con to be installed at you hall or room...
the further it is from the compressor's location...
the more the copper cable needed...
and the cost will increase for sure...

i think your RM1.3k is inclusive of 10ft copper cable only...
which means that distance from ur air-con unit and compressor is max 10ft
if more than that...they will charge u per additional ft required....

gd luck

You should have gotten 3 Acson + 3 table fans with Rm 150 cheaper. York and Acson are exactly same air-cond made by OYL (now belongs to Daikin) but OYL pay York Rm 50 each for brand loyalty. If you want to buy York, you should get Acson for cheaper price.
