has anyone compared

mitsubishi mr slim inverter / hitachi inverter (at a glance i think they are made by the same manufacturer)

with

sharp inverter with plasma ion whatever

i don't care about cooling that much. im interested in the quiet mode. i do wanna know how silent the sharp really is.

i've owned my mr slim mitsubishi inverter for 2-3 years now since its initial release. now it's starting to make a bit of noise, seems to come from the motor since i opened it up. i wonder if i can actually change just the motor. or fix it somehow. it was dead silent though when on quiet mode during its initial days.

in any case, i may be interested in getting a sharp, but for the slowest mode (that blows air upwards), how quiet is that? is it DEAD quiet? i am looking for absolute silence.

I don't know if its marketing getting into me, but the plasma ion thing seem like a very nice feature as well as air blowing upwards. I don't know why people enjoy wind chill, i certainly dislike that. cold air is nice, but not cold wind.

so yes i want only 1) dead silence 2) no wind chill

please share your experience.

i have absolutely closed my mind to panasonic, lg, york and most other brands.

If blower noise is your greatest concern, then you really have to avoid Panasonic (from my own experience) & York.
Have you taken a look at Daikin? Was told that it is quite silence. Not sure if it meets your stringent dead silence requirements or not. All the blower units are bound to produce some level of noise from its motor (after some usage)
Short of that, to comply with your dead silence requirement, you may have to consider the Air Cooled Chilled water system. smile.gif

I think quiteness is subjected to person. For example, if you think that the ceiling fan (normal regulator one at 3/4 speed) is noisy, then I dun think there are any aircond out there meet your expectation.

Yet, I agree with kelvyn. For some reason, my 1.5HP pana is quite noisy to begin with. But if you can reduce the blower speed to low or medium, then the noise is acceptable.

Also, I saw in the "fair" that Daikin aircon has the indoor silent mode that are suppose be quiet. However, there are no gaurantee that it will be dead silence after a couple years of usage due to tear and wear....

do understand, i've used the mr slim inverter on quiet mode for 2-3 years. that's very silent for me. what's not good is its starting to make noise. i either fix that or change to sharp (but i need to have a comparison between sharp and mitsubishi if someone has the experience)

air cooled chilled water system interesting. going to check

Noisy to someone maybe ok for others. Ok for someone maybe silent to others.

is better know the technical spec like db so you can roughly know the technical noise level.

Like someone mention panasonic not very quiet, but acceptable to me. York is noisy, but putting on living room is ok.

looking for under 21dB

mr slim inverter is rated at 19dB

specialist products are at <15dB (pretty inaudible)

Daikin Low Sound Level

FT SERIES
1HP - 28dB indoor / 49dB outdoor
1.5HP - 31dB indoor / 49dB outdoor
2hp - 35dB indoor / 52dB outdoor

FTKS R410 inverter
1hp - 25dB indoor / 43dB outdoor
1.5hp - 26dB indoor / 44dB outdoor
2hp - 34dB indoor / 44dB outdoor

Daikin Super Low Sound Level

FT SERIES
1HP - 25dB indoor / 44dB outdoor
1.5HP - 28dB indoor / 44dB outdoor
2hp - 32dB indoor / 47dB outdoor

FTKS R410 inverter
1hp - 22dB indoor / 38dB outdoor
1.5hp - 23dB indoor / 39dB outdoor
2hp - 31dB indoor / 39dB outdoor

long term dB consistency is what Daikin company pay great attention to.

so far based on my experience, no second aircond brand can match the standard of Daikin.

most aircond brands that available in the market are generally focusing too much on add-on features that attract most attention from the end users.

Forget to add, db level you need to ask at what fan speed level.

Mitsu as you said, it is quiet, but it is not consistent (low sound) in its service over the period.

it is same case if you switch to Sharp.

you are influenced by the ads and the self-emotion concludes your decision.

Agree, all product will deteriorate over time, even when service it still get louder over time. My installer do told me before.

The most silent is centralized ceiling type. My 2cents.

so air con experts here, apart from plastic rattling (which i can fix), the only other source of sound is the motor then, ya?

i wonder if i can open that up to lubricate it..... or if its worth changing just the motor.

yesterday i dismantled the indoor unit on my own... i detached all electronic parts fully.. except the motor.. really no idea how to get that one out.

has anybody tried lubricating the moving parts before?

If the piping is suited for the inverter, then can use for non inverter. For the same HP aircon...

Hi guys,

intend to get the mount unit aircond for the master bedroom but there are several questions up in my mind.
currently im living on 9th floor and the apartment oso got no balcony.
i wonder how the installation for the outdoor unit can be done? how they gonna hang the unit outside there? what i mean, there's no place for people to stand/hold from the outside wall to do the installation. i think it is quite dangerous hmm.gif
any a/c guys here kindly advise me? appreciate it. tq.
