we r using samsung front load. serving us well so far.
however, do consider that front loads have a risk of overflowing.

fortunately, we did a plith for the adjacent fridge.

It will smell. If forgot which also happens to me, just do a refresh/fast wash skipping full wash cycle with pre-wash. Takes less than 1 hour depending on model. Also depending upon how fast the machine can spin, you can sort of feel the damp in the drum. 1000 rpm and above less pronounced in dampness compared to 800rpm and below. That one over time can smell mould in the drum.

Normally, to overcome this I use timer. For older models that don't come with it like mine, I use those Hager or cheap ones from DIY shop. Set the time I would like it to finish and work backwards on when it should start. By the time I wake up, it's done so I can hang it. This can be done with those actuated on/off button that is pushed to turn on rather than LCD or digital ones.

Have been here hearing you all talking about pros & cons of washing machine, look like Electrolux had score quite good mark. However I think most of you are using front load wm,& I'm looking for a top loading. Do Electrolux had the same quality for top load wm? I survey online&heard old Hitachi got weird sound when water flow in(kong kong sound), is that true?maybe for those without inverter?

and if compare Electrolux, Hitachi & Panasonic(top load),which one will you all recommend?

thanks in advance

If it helps, mine is a Samsung WA-95W a cute top loader which costed RM719 a year ago from SenQ. No complaints. I stay with 2 housemates who also work, and we never pay electricity bill for a year already. Water bill is about RM12/2 months.

Heard from one of my neighbour's who use the wash and dry combo washing machine, the whole cycle (Wash + dry) takes about 3 -4 hrs depending on the load. Does it come out completely dry?

Also, I believe the drying function consumes quite a lot of power (so more expensive electricity bill).

If you have space, just do normal air drying on a clothes line.

It depend what kind of technology. New technology doesn't consume much.

Restrict yourself to use. Sun as priority. Dryer 2nd.

I used a very old Electrolux combo washer dryer when I was living in a condo. The thing was built like a tank. It was 8 years old when I took possession and still working when I moved out 5 years later, except for a slightly funky timer.
Not sure about washing machines these days, but older ones tended to last longer because they didn't have alot of electronic parts...
Personally I'm partial to front-loaders. They are gentler on the clothes and use less water. Right now I'm using a Samsung. Let's see if it will last as long....

Previously I used a super oldfag Electrolux model...EWD1214. That model is easily ten to twelve years old. Still working when I moved out.
Now I'm using LG WD CD 1412. (Sorry got confused with Samsung..my fridge is Samsung)
