Inverter and direct drive two separate features. Inverter motor but not necessarily inverter direct drive.

Bosch newer models has quieter brushless dc motor (BLDC) that it touts to be quiter and -30% energy consuming. Electrolux 2012 models already have inverter but may not be direct drive esp the 10kg one.

I recommend and lean towards separate washer and dryer. No joke, wash load reduced to dryer capacity then dry takes a long long while 3-4 hours. If got other loads have to wait.

If you want efficient dryer, Panasonic 8kg and Electrolux 9kg uses 900W with heat pump condensing dryer vs 2700-2800W of condenser dryers. That can be off the same plug as the washer whereas if using the 2700W it has to be separately dedicated 13A if washer and dryer are used simultaneously. Boschalso has an 8kg condenser dryer that's quite energy saving.

Hitachi I can vouch its 42db during spin cycle relative to older conventional washers and definitely reduced my water usage per month. Also has tub clean function.

If you want to compare water usage and electricity usage look for it at either SG PUB or HK EMD energy and water labeling scheme site. This info convinced me to get the Hitachi 8kg front loader with inverter direct drive.

Any brand when it is new do generate less noise. If a brand dare to boast around that after 7 years it is still quiet I'll buy it.

The LG Tromm direct drive washer dryer in a friend's place is still quiet after 6+ years.

I said is the brand boasting on the box, not after buy. Some only use it once a blue moon and don't trash it like no tomorrow rclxms.gif

I prefer top loader at any 1 time, for 10kg, it will be cheaper. Also, you can select the WM that can select water usage. Like now when I'm washing my luandries, washing with detergent I'll use lesser water while rinsing use more a bit. With this way, I'm saving 360l of water a month.
Also, I always wash at night and hang them over night, so the spinning time also reduce to minimum(1 minute only) thumbup.gif
So another 20 units of power saved.

Yes, and the hard facts bear out at HK EMD voluntary labeling scheme for washing machines. Although a TL uses 4 times the amount of water per load vs FL, a conventional motor FL uses 10 times more electricity vs a TL and 5 times vs a inverter direct drive. If I were to choose a TL, Hitachi's would be good since it also incorporates tub cleaning function to reduce mould build up.
*
My Hitachi also comes with tube cleaning, but then the sides I still need to clean manually.
Not to mention the water being used on tube cleaning.

LG 17/9kg washer dryer FL now leads in the water consumption with their. Check SG PUBS and see what I mean.

Big Drum Slim 5500 is newer and slimmer at 60cm wide and 64cm deep compared to BD-S1100 at 73cm wide but 55cm deep. The BD-S5500 can spin up to 2880 rpm - perhaps for tub clean rather than clothes spin. The high speed spin is to dislodge mould in the outer tub.

BUT BUT BUT....
1. All wash then dry cycle takes at least 3-4 hours sometimes to complete at the lowest load number. Check the manuals. For example a 13/7kg LG washer dryer states the dry cycle takes at least up tp 150minutes.
2. The BD-S5500/S1100 don't have a built-in (impeller) pump. They discharge water by gravity like TL and cannot exceed 10cm above the bottom of the washing machine.

Wind iron and steam iron like Dyson or Mitsubishi hand dryer effect on clothes to make it less crumply and easier to iron.

Auto self clean is tub cleaning function after every wash. Defaulted to run with but can be turned off. If turned on, after clothes is remove, WM will instruct door to be closed to continue in tub cleaning phase.

Most outlet hose is designed helically wound rib (kedut kedut) - they claim this harbours mould. The smooth ribless inner tube design should be less conducive to mould build up.

Like I mentioned, don't let the high load rating of washing and drying allure you. In all practicality, more times than not it's better to separate loads to wash and dry. Electricity is not cheap also. Better to go for Panasonic heat pump dryer if it needs be. Total price of Hitachi BD-W85SV and Panasonic NH-P80G2 dryer should not exceed MYR7000 or much less if you buy display units or have better contact who can get cheaper. Get a stacking kit or source for home laundry speacilists that supply dryer stacking kits. BD-S5500 costs MYR7888 vs the 5499 of the LG 17/9, so consider wisely and both don't give the advantage of simultaneous wash and dry that the Hitachi and Panasonic dryer afford you from a single 13A plug.
*
Fastest also 150 minutes. With this time, I already done with 2 full load of washing and make it spin for extra 9 minutes:thumbs:

Never bother to call cause is nearing 4 years... already pass the 3 years warranty duration. Besides... since it is functioning OK, just not aesthetic... I just ignore it.

That's bad.
Still give them a call and ask will be better. Who knows it is a more serious problem?

is 600rpm spin speed is enough?

600 vs. 800 rpm will give big difference?

tq

Both got pros and cons. Is up to you want to use it for how long.
For me, I prefer 600 over 800 as it can last longer in some sense. But raining season I will cry as I need to spin extra once or twice.
Just a joke, make love you want fast or slow and steady tongue.gif

Panasonic NA-FS14G3 (14kg) RM1.6k vs. Hitachi SF-130S (13kg) RM1.5k.
Which one should i buy?
Thanks.
*
That Panasonic at SenQ selling at rm1888.
Was going to buy a Panasonic thermos(end up buy at other place).
The dumb question is, do you really have that much of laundry to wash?
Depending what you are going to wash, if you have lots of lady's wear(not bras BTW), slower speed will be better.
And don't buy those with variable speed spinning, it will fail faster. As the speed either limited by mechanically or electronically. Both are the same will shorten the motor's lifespan.

My mom's washing machine just died and I am in a hurry to get her a replacement. Last nite went to look for top loader machine at a shop. The sales person told me that Samsung often got issue with the electronic board. He also mentioned that current batch of Toshiba quality might not be that good after their factory at Thailand was flooded last time. Suspecting they are using back those parts that was soaked wet before... Wondering how true is that...
BTW... should I look for the newer Direct Drive or get back the old school Belt Drive?
*
Toshiba belt drive user here. After 8 years of usage, it will vibrate more. But still working.

Try to sell it(more on disposing it) to the unlucky group. Better still donate to charity home.
Then get your self a japanese brands like Panasonic, Hitachi, Toshiba.
