My back yard is covered with a roof and is facing the neighbour's. That's why I'm interested in maybe getting a washer dryer.

Of course we have to clean the drum. Helps your machine run more efficiently. My top loader is a pain to clean because of years of build up. No matter how often I try to clean now, there's always gunk stuck to my clothes when they're done in the washer.
*
Even if covered with roof but if still left exposed to the elements like slight wind that can steer the rain in, it won't help if those conditions are present. My first dwelling in condo like that. Windy like anything which is good for people and clothes except when raining. So had to install cheap IKEA venetian blind against the security grill in the dry yard where the hanging rod is. Had an old working table which my wife use as an ironing board under which the washing machine sits. That area is prone to get wet when windy rain. That part I had to use a shower rod and curtain to help shelter. The hem is weighed down so even strong wind cannot lift.

In my old landed home, both my neighbours on the left and right has already extended their back yard and bricked it up. So there's no gap left to chancy wind bringing in rain that can wet the clothes. The backyard roof extends out about 2 feet but even strong windy rain don't come in where the grill and mosquito netting is. I guess it's a combo of zinc roofing, totally sheltered left and right plus large fenestration (grilled back from 5ft up covered with mosquito netting) that helps clothes to air dry.

Of course, the washing machine used helped. I use a Hitachi Big Drum 8kg that spins up to 1600rpm. The residual moisture content is about 44%, way drier than my older front loader which is also considered can dry even at 1000rpm. Big bedsheets no issue due to drying area environment. Extractor fan helps dry faster during the rain as it promotes wind movement.

The Hitachi has tub cleaning program that takes advantage of spin speed to cut down mould and detergent residue build up. Both the front and top load Hitachi has this. Highly recommend.

Our back neighbour illegally extended right to the boundary. In any case, the torrential rain has ceased. Just looking for a front loader and dryer combo.

While checking at Hitachi fridge, saw their washer/dryer model. The spec not bad.

Big drum, auto self clean, heat iron, heat recycle drying, steam iron, DD inverter motor, silent and many more.

Most impress is it energy saving. 500w for wash and 1350w for drying. With the load of 10.5/7kg, it quite low energy using.

What fridge model Concy buy?

Quite impress the spec of this Hitachi WM. I m not sure it can wash comforter or not. But with the big drum, I believe it can.

But you should look for others brand to compare also.

Panasonic all the parts are made in China. Reliability is a question.
Try Hitachi, but choose the model with basic functions, with inverter motor but not "econavi". Unless you are prepared to change the circuit board every now and then.

This the seller never says. But 8.5 years ago when I'm sourcing for WM(shop A), they also asked me to take Hitachi and it proven to work till now but with some problems on alignment.
And on Sunday(shop B), again the seller says the same thing.

As a Panasonic die hard fan, this makes me wonder to get a Panasonic WM or stick to Hitachi.
Again, getting WM will less fancy functions sure will last long. After all, it still pour water, spin, drain. But FL do have dancing functions like what my company gives us in the villa. It only need 2 years to have this function.

All only warranty the motor, nobody offer extended warranty on circuit boards.
I do agree with you on trying new things, that's why I being kicked to Middle East to try new electric appliances. All are from the most popular Kimchi brand in Malaysia. But they have prove to me that, stick to Japs.

Her fridge is the made-in-Japan Hitachi R-D6800M in Crystal Brown. drool.gif

There are a few made-in-Japan appliances Hitachi manufactures that are available on the Malaysian market.

If money was no object and I didn't give a hoot about North American warranties being voided because I imported the appliance on my own, this is the dream.

The LG WM8000HVA Front Loader and DLEX8000W Dryer.

user posted image

Just for comparison, that's 5.2 cu ft for the washer and 9 cu ft for the dryer. The largest capacity available on the North American consumer market (along with a Maytag model). Highest ratings for energy consumption too.

Oh. Forget I have discussion with her before. My favourite fridge. And my target fridge. drool.gif

Is that Hitachi promotion now? drool.gif The price seems way too high from what I find.

Well, you got to becarefull with the US electrical thing. There are using 110V. First world are always have some very good spec and good price.

I don't find any impress improving spec from local LG recently. Not much changing from what I brought 6yrs ago.

The energy saving fridge uses R600a which is potentially flammable but I reckon the chances of it happening are remote. As for the separate dryer washer that's the best. Panasonic has one that uses 900W using R410a heat pump condenser. Savings on electrical requirement. I like the BD-S5500 but for the price.

I'm not sure if they're having promotions now. Last I saw was the 6200M (smaller version) on sale. But that was the display model.

The LG WM8000HVA is 120V. Again, just a dream machine for me. I love the size.

Really hoping someone finds the light and sees that there's a market for these in Asia.

the BD-S5500 is brand new so the price tag makes sense. I'll scope it out and see if it's on display at our local stores yet.

The Panasonic dryer is a good tech energy saving. But the price is at higher side. Given the frequent of usage of dryer in our local climate, it is probably 1/4 of the WM peryrs.

Does it justified to get a dryer which the price is higher than the WM ? I guess not.
