Hi guys, I'm currently looking for a side by side door fridge for my home, budget around RM3.5k and looking for about 550L size. Saw this model by LG, GC-B507PGAM. Its using inverter compressor, is it different than the Linear compressor?

What other models should I look at that fits my budget? Saw this model by Sharp that looks decent too:

Hello, i know it has been years but would like to hear your review on your fridge? Because I have a similar one but we havent been using it for years until recently moving into the condo where the fridge is located, and we have an issue but technician still cant seem to find out the root cause.

Back to shopping for new fridge. I'm a huge fan of Hitachi previously, as my old hitachi still going strong after 9 years. It is a French type with 4 doors. Bought another hitachi 5 years ago, Japan made model but started giving me problem past year. As it is still within warranty, ask for free service and change nearly everything from motor to electric board and etc. but still there is problem after a week or two. Water droplets forms near the rubber seal. Fully utilize my warranty until the end and now the problem reappears. I think I will change this one. Just not worth my time. Maybe it is just me but I think Japan made one perform worst than the old 10 years model, the technician servicing also say something similar describing these models having smaller compressor and the motor area being too compact. Maybe suits Japan weather but not efficient in Malaysia

Try Samsung. I now have 3 of it, oldest one from 2017, newest one bought last year. No issues and price wise cheaper than Panasonic.

Panasonic is also good but pricier. Since 2015 bottom freezer model.

Midea, 8 years old, PCB died so the fridge died completely. I manage to search videos and buy the PCB online and DIY myself. My Midea inverter aircon top of line also died at the 7 years mark. Hmm.

Wow... you sure have many fridge experience.
I checked out Samsung, but most of them don't have the features I need.
I need an auto ice maker and possible the ice compartment is separated so that it don't get smells.

LG have such features but most review said that it isn't reliable. Panasonic new premium series have it but quite pricey.
So in the end go back to Hitachi. Well hope that it last at least 10 years.... fingers crossed laugh.gif

LG have issue with their compressor previously. Not sure if the newer model had rectify this problem. But do take into consideration about warranty claim when issue happened. Alghouth the compressor may have 10 years warranty, but technician visit is not free.

Just curious, what is the issue?
Just my 2 cents of advise, some issue is not worth the money and time to fix.

Picked up a Samsung recently for my new place too. As mentioned above, I felt LG has more of the features I wanted but Samsung seemed a less risky option with regards to reliability. Though I feel all the major brands are prone to issues, just a matter of likelihood and easy of getting support and warranty repairs.

Hmm... it is more about the 2 person lifestyle. Assuming not much cooking. It should be sufficient.
But if you prepare your own meal, you love ice water, ice cream, or cakes. Then maybe not enough.

As fridge usually last at least 5 years or more... it is advise to buy bigger. But then again it all boils down to budget, needs and wants.

It's always good to have something slightly bigger than smaller.

SBS typically wider around 90cm+, you can try searching for multidoor instead but height will be an issue

This seems to fit your requirements. Take note you still need to leave gaps around your fridge

My concern will be leakages of cold air thru that system, and cost more bill in the long run, and I'm not a fan of drinking from plastic container haha
But the design is definitely what I'm looking for, midea one abit not convincing
