anyone use Panasonic NR-BY608XS Bottom freezer?

Using a Panasonic bottom freezer. Without econavi but its inverter. Loving the bottom freezer drawer. Really convenient and easy to use. Even my mom loves it.

if u notice, in usual, bottom freezer tends to be more expensive.. and if u don't mind bending and picking up frozen foods (which normally heavier) at bottom, then is ok.. anyway, panasonic is a good brand.. this model is good which initially shortlisted by me..
*
Bending is not good for your back. Bend your knees and half-squat down. I am using the Panasonic bottom drawer freezer, love the design. Convenient to see everything at 1 glance, rather than opening the drawer and search.

QUOTE(ozak @ Apr 20 2017, 09:41 AM)
Drawer type at bottom doesn't cause any bending issue. Which 1st I thought it would.

My fridge have 2 drawer at the bottom. Freezer middle and vege the last bottom.

I like the drawer now rather the door type. Can put more compare stack up for the door type. It is not heavy to open too since it can run on motorize.
*
Yup..drawer is ok despite what people think. But I notice new Panasonic got bottom door... mega_shok.gif Feel a bit crazy.

I ended up getting the Samsung rsa1stsl1 at 2.9k (I think can get as cheap as 2.8k with delivery if bought online). Any reason for Faber or is it just the price?
*
Do share some review/feedback. And where you bought it? Seems to be the cheapest branded side by side right now.

I’m also eyeing this model. Keen to know too.

I think the wide opening is really useful, plus have separate doors means don’t have to open so big when taking smaller items.

And best of all the price is competitive for the size.

I just had a conversation with fridge repairmen. They said avoid LG as third party cannot repair or fix it, have to go back to LG Malaysia.

After doing my research on fridges, I've come to the conclusion that important features that you should look out for is:
1. must have inverter
2. twin cooling / dual cooling / twin fan is a feature you should get if it is in your price range.

If its for long term family use.

I've recently gotten a RS62 side by side Samsung with twin cooling. so far so good. fridge is huge.

hi do you mind share more on the LG cannot repair by third party? Is this mean after the warranty period, fridge repairmen are not able to repair the fridge? Do you happen to know why?

was searching fridge for myself and LG caught my attention for design and price range.. thanks!
*
Third party cannot get parts, so you have to send back to LG ONLY.

Imagine you buy a car, the car MUST go back original service centre, cannot go outside, even after warranty. Because outside nobody have the parts to repair it.

Which model did u buy?

Im looking for a big fridge too budget around 4k.

Actually I have decided on Hitachi but after reading the feedbacks here, now I'm lost.
*
My own experience, Panasonic 2 door (5 years old now), bottom freezer, going strong. Samsung twin cooling top freezer (going to be 2 years old soon), also going strong. Now just bought side by side Samsung.

Old fridge at home that used for over 20 years.. was a Sharp. Did not choose Sharp as the inverter models for side by side not widely available, and no twin cooling.

3.2k lol
yup own use. brand reliable? is not as reputable compared to other brands. high-price item so i dont want it to fail on me so soon. inverter to me works best if usage differs over time. like me, i open only 3-4 times at most daily, so usage is v minimal. price diff between inverter and normal is pretty high
*
That's not how inverter works.... and no.. 3.2k can get side by side inverter if you look hard enough. But up to you. Your money.

ohlol i may have gotten it wrong. but still the price diff is huge, and take yaears to recoup the diff. hmmm this one's french door, with 3 diff compartmets (refer to the link i sent). side by side uses most energy compared to other range, not the same capacity
*
Lol?
https://s.lazada.com.my/s.Zm7Lx

This is BIGGER, both gross and nett, has FRENCH DOORS like you wanted, is an INVERTER. And it’s RM2950 inclusive of delivery in W.M.

Why would I want to pay more for a China brand with inferior specifications? But your money, go ahead. It’s a stupid choice.

Based on size limitations, I have narrowed down my choice to LG, Hitachi and Sharp. All about same price circa 3k+, inverter, top freezer , 2 door, inside shelving, 500+ liters, black finish.

Which brand would you recommend as far as reliability, servicing, etc. ?
*
Between that 3 I choose Sharp.
Hitachi seems to have a fair bit of complaints. LG I was told spare parts unavailable outside so must send back to LG — according to fridge repairmen.

I noticed not many ppl recommend electrolux. Any reasons on this? Is it because it is not reliable as other brands like sharp and hitachi?
*
Electrolux had warehouse sale in the past with crazy prices. I would buy it if it’s cheap.

Otherwise wouldn’t really consider it. Mainly because they are famous for washing machines and I don’t see many people talk about their fridge either.

When I bought my fridge I had two features I wanted, inverter and twin cooling. Hitachi had the feature, and the Samsung model I bought had it as well.

I think before deciding on brand, decide on the features that you want. As well as the number of doors and layout.

Thanks a lot for the info. The warehouse sale is nationwide? Or only selected few shops in KL normally?

U are using hitachi and samsung now? Hows the reliability?
*
I’m using Samsung... one unit 2 years old, another barely a year old.. no issue.. Panasonic 6 years old.. no problem so far.

Electrolux warehouse sale last time is at their HQ. It’s not shop.

Warehouse sale was in the past. Now I don’t know got or not.

Guys gone through few comments here but still need some enlightments.I will go for Panasonic after seeing the good reviews here.
Which one is good and reliable
1)SBS vs top-bottom vs French
2)Top freezer vs Bottom freezer
*
1) I have SBS & top bottom. I prefer SBS for usage. My frequently used stuff is easily access in eye level.

2) I own both. Bottom freezer feels like it has a bigger freezer/easier to use, due to drawer design. Again, on paper bottom freezer is better, but I think if you use freezer less the bottom design makes more sense. Again eye level and accessibility.

I’ve got a Panasonic, 3 Samsungs and 1 Midea. All so far so good.

Back to shopping for new fridge. I'm a huge fan of Hitachi previously, as my old hitachi still going strong after 9 years. It is a French type with 4 doors. Bought another hitachi 5 years ago, Japan made model but started giving me problem past year. As it is still within warranty, ask for free service and change nearly everything from motor to electric board and etc. but still there is problem after a week or two. Water droplets forms near the rubber seal. Fully utilize my warranty until the end and now the problem reappears. I think I will change this one. Just not worth my time. Maybe it is just me but I think Japan made one perform worst than the old 10 years model, the technician servicing also say something similar describing these models having smaller compressor and the motor area being too compact. Maybe suits Japan weather but not efficient in Malaysia
*
Try Samsung. I now have 3 of it, oldest one from 2017, newest one bought last year. No issues and price wise cheaper than Panasonic.

Panasonic is also good but pricier. Since 2015 bottom freezer model.

Midea, 8 years old, PCB died so the fridge died completely. I manage to search videos and buy the PCB online and DIY myself. My Midea inverter aircon top of line also died at the 7 years mark. Hmm.

Is it possible to get a good fridge with just 1-1.5k budget?

Yeah. But it won’t be big. Can probably get a China brand Hisense or TCL inverter for the price.

Fridge is really worth getting inverter because it’s on 24/7.
