The Knights of Ren were created for the film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Kylo Ren, a member of the group, renounced his given name of Ben Solo, and took on the surname Ren as a result of his membership, similar to how Darth became a title used by members of the Sith in the prequel trilogy.

He was once Luke's apprentice when Leia wanted to continue traditions of becoming a Jedi. However, he was seduced by the darkside & Kylo Ren is still an apprentice under Supreme Leader Snoke

Kylo Ren is pretty unique in which he's not really seduced to Dark Side, but more like he wants to be in the Dark Side scared of being seduced by the Light Side of The Force like Vader.

As for why? Who knows...

I believe he was truly seduced by the darkside by Snoke. Its a norm for Jedi to be seduced Why would he wanted to finish what Vader started when Vader renounced darkside & become 1 with the force since there was still good in him & Darth Sidious didn't fully turn Vader.

and that voice belongs to Ewan McGregor, who also played Obi Wan in the prequel trilogy

Wait, how is Darth Vader a grandfather to Ren ? Am I missing something here ? Also, how did Rey use the Force ? Why Rey call Ren a coward after stopping half way looking into her mind ? During the flashbacks of Rey, what aircraft was leaving the planet ? There was an ending sentence of Rey flashback. Can't recall what the person said. I also have a weird feeling that Rey is the daughter of Luke.

In the movie, I believe Han Solo mentioned Luke was training a new generation of Jedis. Wonder how that worked out, definitely not well for Ben.

And the question remains of who (and why) Rey was abandoned on Jakku.

I loved the character Kylo Ren. He is a one-of-a-kind villain in the SWU... the tantrums he throws, showing his face, quite the opposite of Vader. I know there is much more to his story than what we just saw.

I wonder if Supreme Leader Snoke's size is as projected; we have seen in the past (Darth Sidious talking to Vader etc.) but they not always projected in actual size. If Snoke's size is as what we saw, Snoke would be the 'largest humanoid' in the Star Wars universe.
