Rm1599 just for the console only...without any bundle. Just sign up for the sony member during your purchase and you will get the discount point immediately and it's valid for 1 year.

Is the 1599 at the Sony shops, on any of the Sony Style shops? Their site only lists promotional packages which are 1899.

Having a slight dilemma on which console to get. SG sets are rm1400 now. Can save 200 bucks and get a game there.

Anyone got any recommendations on which set to get?

Get Malaysian set get usable WARRANTY. if you get SG set, if something bad happens to your PS3, must go to SG or send it to SG.

PS3 is pretty durable though, failure rate is so low.

@kopking10 - DS2 is ps2's controller. In using that you lose out on wireless and sixaxis. Not sure what you lose out though.

RM1599 , yes at Sony Style. Plus RM36 topup Sony Style member card. Once you buy PS3, you can buy games with less RM36 ( deduct from your member card).

Support will be at Malaysia. Simple, but don't forget to register at Playstation (Malaysia Region) website for 1 year + 3months warranty

Hardware failure rate is very very low. But software failure rate is highly possible. System updates can ruin your PS3. Happened to many people already including me last year. Maybe now they have improved i dont know?

Software failures would require bringing the console in for warranty claims?

Actually.. I think you got into one of the bad patches Sony released last year. I think it bricked the console right? Don't really recall, I remember there was a bad patch which Sony eventually pulled and released another.

Buy from Sony Style or from reputable gameshop? Hmmm... hmm.gif

Edit: What's the difference of the benefit we get between both of them i wonder?

It bricks the console or disables certain functions like cannot read disc. There were a few bad updates not just one. So it might happen anytime.

Quite true.. low failure rate, mostly due to software issue only. I bought my PS3 over 14 months ago.. warranty ALREADY elapsed.. PS3 still working. Average used per day.. 2 hours.. my set is a direct US import from a friend who brought back from big store Walmart..(much cheaper than .SG and .JP set) eventho it says 110v, no issue with our 240v power because of the universal power supply inside thebox. The box is Region A for BD, Region 1 for DVD Movies and Games. I have tested R3 games too no issue but only buy R1 games due to plenty of Add-ons available for R1 games from US PSN store.

Also, make sure your PS3 has GOOD ventilation. Most hardware issues are caused by bad air ventilation, not cool enough and may cause overheat in the box. Just turn on your air cond while playing games or watching movies! tongue.gif

For DS2.. I don't think people should buy it since it is only for PS2. Nowadays, the only type of PS3 controller is DS3.

@vermins
i think rm1599 would be applicable to all sony shops, but to be on the safe side, visit the ones in either klcc, times square or the curve as these are i think company owned stores.

reason i am saying this is, i asked about installment plan in sony the gardens, and they said will charge extra, where else i know that sony klcc is 0% plan. my guess is apart from these 3, the rest are more like franchise outlets.

Correct bro, if you go to One Utama Sony Centre, to get 0%plan ( or use credit card) you have to pay 3% charges, = RM50++. All sony style have 0% plan,

The Silver and White will come end of the month

Thanks for all the input. But I'm still rather stuck on which set to get. Rather thinking of getting from a sony store for the peace of mind though. But saving Rm200 is rather heavy.
