Yo guys, question.
is it safe to leave my stock fan at a lower speed, like back to the default 20% or maybe 30% at night when im not doing anything graphically intensive?
Things like pc scanning, updates, and downloading. Cos i takut it will go rather hot.

GTX280, before cut is price very expensive, after cut price still expensive

i set my 4870 at 30% fan speed and the idle temp is bout 54c so i guess its very much cool,for my gc if i leave it to auto adjust the fan speed my 4870 will idle @74c which i think its quite hot im nt 2 sure bout 4850 idle temp.

Yea, i takut idle too high.
have to monitor it for a few nights. :S

Anyone playing 4850 with a 22" monitor @ 1650 x 1080 (native resolution)??

Can tahan or not? I'm thinking of buying a 22" LCD this PC Fair, but scare the resolution is too much too handle.

I've tested with my 32" LCD @ 1360 x768, still very smooth though.

btw, i've tested the HDMI sound on the 4850. No problem, sound came out of my LCD TV via HDMI.

i heard HIS HD4850 iceq 4 not yet ready. middle of August juz got ler. around 2-3 weeks from now.

Hi. I juz got my rig recently, and it's got a 4870 in it.
I've installed the Catalyst 8.7 and now i wan to raise the fan speed.
I have idle temp around 79 and i kinda worries me.
I've tried referring to this : Cooling HD4000 Series
So far, i hav the same problem as 1 of the guys in there. I'm using xp and i cant find my profile, eg. km.xml
Can any1 help?

using search function can easily locate the file.

Just key in *.xml on name u want search.... it will scan all the xml file

Try google.. u may find some result there.. i know in vista only..

But the prob is, i run search for tat .xml file, i cant find it.
Has this got anything 2 do with my user profile being OEM?
It seems like i cant change certain settings, like being able to view hidden files or not.
I keep changing it to yes(view hidden files), but when i checked later, it's back to no.
