@kunamiya,
ALL the questions U asked above have been answered within this thread - perhaps U should take the time to go through it from Page 1 onwards tongue.gif <I did!>

As to NZ Vodafone's being unlocked; we're all as curious as U tongue.gif

@friends,
I'm sure there are sufficient fingers and toes crossed - let's just wait for NZ's response.

And FYI, before Apple updated that page, the column on NZ was showing "TBD - to be determined" - or something like that smile.gif

Yes, before that it was stated TBD

not going to comment much, but the iPhone 3G sold till today is still unlocked.

Went down and ask to "unlock" my iphone today...3 of the Vodafone store sales assistance, says that they don't provide unlock service, as the iPhone sold from vodafone is not locked all the while.

anyway, we'll know for sure when Cocklea receive the new stock

p.s. keep it to ourself, k? don't spread the news out smile.gif

Ah well.. cocklea can't quite get back to us until new shipment arrives ... but well.... continue keeping fingers crossed.

@psyeo,
And that would mean, stringfellow's set is an officially unlocked set! wink.gif

Psyeo, String

Which network sell the iphone 3g unlocked in NZ? How much does it set me back if I am to get one there. There's hope yet, my colleague is going to NZ next month (a week or so from now) and she's willing to get one for me. Thanks

Guys, from the information presented here by Psyeo, if you ask me, I would think that the state of the NZ iPhone 3G is still "unlocked".

Further confirmations would come from:-

1 - Goldieboy's iPhone coming this Sunday. We shall know if that staff is blowing smoke up to deter non-contract purchases, or if it is unlocked in any form. I see this more as a scare tactics by those staff to keep their stocks up and deter non-contract purchases.

2 - Confirmation from Cocklea himself. From what I hear, stocks is depleted at his store, so he is anticipating new stock. From Geekzone forum, new stock is expected to arrive on the 5th next month, so we may not know until then.

Further investigation from this link, after checking the Parts number on the rightmost column on that table, points towards the same model parts number on both mine and Psyeo. And if I read this article correctly, Apple is implying that iPhone 3G with those part numbers would "require Carrier unlocks". This contradicts the very nature of my iPhone and Psyeo's, since ours are unlocked without the need of any Vodafone intervention.

Again, all this are educated guesses. Confirmations will only come this Sunday (from Goldieboy) and on the 5th when Cocklea gets his new stock. Until then, I leave it up to you to intepret this.

To the failed "Tumpang" guys, please be informed. Decision is still up to you, I will not be held responsible if situation dictates otherwise.

Currently seeing if I can fully rely on 3G and ditch EDGE. I'd love to have both, but I'm not carrying both phones. One will have to go. I have nothing but good times when I'm with DiGi's EDGE, and still is.

I can second that......with data unlimited plan is pretty nice!
