The iPhone 3g's A-GPS lock on is very fast as compared to the n95's A-GPS

QUOTE(nouras @ Jul 17 2008, 03:55 AM) Hmmm a lil confused here.. it means that vodafone NZ prepay customer won't be able to use the 3G data service, as they have special APN for iPhone. but there is a way around this. This link says that iPhone will not be available for prepay customers : http://vodafonenz.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/vod...hp?p_faqid=6513 does that mean that a prepay sim card would not work in it (locked for sim cards with a plan) or means there's no prepay plan that goes with the iphone? Thanks no worries if u're using a sim card outside nz, it will not affect anything |

QUOTE(nouras @ Jul 17 2008, 04:01 AM) Ahh right.. thanks for clearing that up for me.. So looks like i'm gonna get one when I balik NZ then. How do you get around the prob of no data? Basically there is 2 method to it. 1st swapping the NZ sim card with a foreign sim card while in the network setting thingy e.g. maxis sim card 2nd download and use the mobile config found onUnlockit.co.nz Source This post has been edited by psyeo: Jul 17 2008, 12:11 AM |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 17 2008, 04:11 AM) I dont know what else I can add in terms of pics or video, if there is anything specific you need to know just ask. heard that the tracking thingy on google map won't follow ur travelling, so u have to manually shift the map....Okay, here's how you undo the lock on the iPhone 3G. If you watched that Youtube clip I uploaded, it came without any sim card, and to unlock it, you need to use iTunes. Plug it into iTunes and the register screen greets you. Agree to the T&C, and continue with the registration. As long as you do not agre to the T&C and complete the registration, your iPhone will not appear on iTunes and you cannot transfer your media onto it. In my case, I already have registered an account with iTunes US, and I use my Apple ID to continue from there. Once everything is done, your iPhone appears on the right tab on iTunes, and you can now either rename it or set as default "Phone". You can also choose to restore from previous sync you have with other iPhones you have synced with the Mac you're using, in this case, both my previous 8GB and my 16GB. I chose to not to restore and start fresh. The rest is the same how you do it now, automatically sync your media or customise it. Other observations, 3G coverage in my area, when good, is really good, when it is not, it drops out of coverage and totally konked out. This was observed during my mad dash outside my house testing out the GPS. When coverage drops, the "3G" symbol disappears and replaced by a blue box with a dot in a middle. But once you're back on coverage, it refreshes and the symbol came back on, with settings remembered, you dont have to re-enter it. 3G settings for both Celcom and Maxis are as follows:- Celcom = 3gcelcom, leave login and password blank Maxis = unet, username "maxis", password 0123 Both blazingly fast, it's been a while since I used 3G, when it is good, the speed is fast, but I hate it when the crappy days comes, you know, when they say it's "under maintainance" Everything else, is like how I posted before. GPS is heavenly, I'll do the taping of the GPS in action tomorrow when I'm in the bus to KLCC for my private TT and "The Dark Knight". Will tape it using the 2G iPhone with iPhone Video Recorder. Gonna start transferring songs, movies and apps now, now I can safely purchase Super Monkey Ball and Scrabble. Anything else you guys want me to try out , or any other questions, dont hesitate to ask. I dont think I can sleep tonight. Added on July 17, 2008, 12:14 am Ahahah, the remnants of my toy-collecting days, I still do collect and pose them, but not as crazy as I used to. I'm gonna use the USB cable connected to another USB head that I have to charge, the USB head left over from my old Sony Ericsson phone owning days. Plus, still have the US 2-pin plug I always use for charging inflight. I'm waiting for a proper navigation map for iphone now |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 18 2008, 02:31 AM) Okay , I've got the video clip from iPhone video Recorder uploaded, but after reviewing the clip, I realize the conversation going on in that clip is not err......"suitable" for general viewing. LOL a great guru there, lolI'll have to record it tomorrow, using my Xacti camcorder. Clearer than iPhone Video Recorder, and hopefully no ......"explicit" audio. P/s: I was recording while I was in a cab, and the taxi driver was talking about his experience "pancing" girls and what made him marry early. WTF moments ensues, and the conversation went towards the more explicit kind. I just wanna record the GPS damnit! u can take off the audio part of the video if u want to save the hassle of having to record it again:) This post has been edited by psyeo: Jul 17 2008, 10:34 PM |

QUOTE(goldieboy @ Jul 23 2008, 05:53 PM) Friend, just now i received a call from my uncle at Vodafone NZ. the sales guy can be misleading, even the vodafone store or maybe those store that are reluctant to sell it without contract will say that.....The sales guy told him that the phone only can work with NZ Sim Card...and they cant unlcoked there... WEIRD!~ afaik, by nz law, vodafone nz are not allowed to lock their phone, since few years ago This post has been edited by psyeo: Jul 23 2008, 02:18 PM |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 23 2008, 06:23 PM) @psyeo, in terms of look, i would say black looks more elegant and sleek, but very finger print proneAct, which is a better colour? It's hard to tell from pictures alone - since U've seen both U should be able to tell while white = attention grabber and sexy, lol overall, i would choose black, but they ran out of stock for 16gb black, so I have to settle with white This post has been edited by psyeo: Jul 23 2008, 10:32 PM |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 27 2008, 06:49 PM) I dont know if I have posted it here or the doomed "Tumpang" thread, but to future owners of the iPhone 3G, you may want to set the "Push" feature on MobileMe/iPhone 3G integration to "Fetch" or "Manual Push" instead. Woot, hero pulak, LoL i did ntg this time round le Why? I had the case of spotty 3G auto-updating the Contacts and iCal, only to have it updated half way. The result? All my contacts come up with their names only, no phone numbers, addresses, or the notes tagged to them! Apple have been struggling to bring MobileMe up to speed, so the advice is to stay vigilant and do this manually. Or better still, dont "Fetch" or "Push" at all, but only update your Contacts and iCal appointments when you sync. This may not be an ideal solution, particularly to those on the move, and wanting MobileMe "cloud computing" to work without the need of having to be infront of your Mac or editing massive amount of data on tiny iPhone keyboards, but the way I see it, that's the safest bet. Added on July 27, 2008, 2:50 pm Tell that to them, they already won, with my Tumpang in limbo now. Cocklea and Psyeo, boss. They are the real heroes. I'm just the postmen. QUOTE(harmeet15 @ Jul 28 2008, 06:10 AM) tat makes 3 ppl i hv 2 to thank 4 making it possible 4 me and all of us here 2 get our hands da iphone... haha, all spread out liao....R u working in INTI now?psyeo...when u get bac here, hope 2 meet u...drop by inti...can get 2 meet up.... btw, whr all our classmates now? lost contact with most of them laaa |
