If i'll be gettin mine, most likely it would be from the US since my friend is heading there this 6th August. Looks like i'll need to unlock it myself as I'm pretty sure (or it is already confirmed) the US iPhone is still locked exclusively to US telcos only even with the "out-of-contract" version.

As of now, the unlock available?

It doesn't - it jailbreaks it so U be able to use the Apps (some, if not ALL) but not the phone feature.

update: got an email from my boss, stocks came in today!

Ah so it just jailbreaks. Hmm, too bad then I'll be getting the 3G iPhone from the US. Probably will come in a fortnight time. Hopefully the unlock tool will be released by then.
