QUOTE(cocklea @ Jul 29 2008, 06:19 PM) im still pretty much in the dark at the mo' coz i latest batch of iphones are not here yet! we should've gotten it yesterday, but dunno what happen. counting on tat bro...just in case you're interested, previous shipment of stocks came from Hong Kong (i checked the packaging myself) and prolly that is the reason why our iphones are not locked. New shipment, not sure, but I'll update as the story develops. and when psyeo told me iPhone technical support told him he got to go into a Vodafone store to unlock his iPhone, i was like "WTF???" i have a feeling all this locking/unlocking thing is pure bullshit, trying to scare off people from buying it outright but im going to investigate it nonetheless. bring us good news and and and put a smile on our faces |

Thank you, Cocklea bro for keeping us updated. I've already PMed those involved, and we all wait for your news.
I'm sorry I cant do much on my end here, guys. Plus, I'm going to Frankfurt tonight, and wont be back till 2nd next month. Otherwise, it would just be like the Australian iPhone situation, which may or may not be enticing for those to continue getting it from NZ. Guys, let's keep things to ourselves here, and only in general, no specifics. Those who preyed on the failure of the "Tumpang" is already celebrating on the failure already, and with this news, would just make them gloat even further. Very little update from me once I'm on the plane. Be good, guys. |

No lah bro, I didnt add anything extra what, not since the first post impressions. If you're not keen on 3G or GPS, the FW2.0 EDGE iPhones are good subtitutes. |

I am waiting with baited breath on Cocklea's and Psyeo's findings tomorrow. Cocklea is going to test his Maxis sim on the new stocks, while Psyeo will try and go to the Vodafone store to ask them to "unlock" his already unlocked iPhone 3G. See how the procedure is.
I am in debt to these fine folks, without them I am lost. Thank you Cocklea/Psyeo! |

QUOTE I am female and I would consider getting the iPhone 3G [in fact, I've gone crazy thinking about it!]. I also know ur expected a set to come in next week; should I be expecting a gift then?! with all the latest info, really pray that it will not be true though.... now what i can do is..... (Chinese style) @ goldieboy Hope you also can confirm for us too if NZ iPhone 3G is unlocked as it is.... or hav to go thru all the hassle process. @string u have done what u can.... dun leave with uncertainties with you all way long to Frankfurt. Njoy your trip there. QUOTE In some countries like France, Australia and NZ, laws prohibit mobile telecommunications providers from monopolizing specific cell phones, at least not completely I thought NZ government has that kind of 'policies' ? Looking at the [ Last Modified ] Date shown, it was only yesterday. I did browse this page before, but unfortunately I didn't make it as PDF file to keep it.... otherwise, I could have compared the page Before and After. @friends,
I'm sure there are sufficient fingers and toes crossed - let's just wait for NZ's response. And FYI, before Apple updated that page, the column on NZ was showing "TBD - to be determined" - or something like that |
