@mitodna,
Thus far, CIMB & UOB does NOT charge additional for overseas transactions. MBB CS tells us there's no charges too but some forumers have been charged.

@hye,
Yeah I was going through the T&C at one point and realised the additional fees - I thought it was pretty stupid but looking at it from the banks' perspective; I guess the 1 main reason they keep you on those interest free plans is just so they can keep U as a member; with that there's a higher possibility of using their card biggrin.gif

tinkerbel,

If you look at what the bank charges the merchants, you'll realize why banks nowadays encourage you to use Ezy Pay transaction with 0%.

Assuming that you'll settle your purchased amount whether if you use Ezy Pay or normal card swipe, the bank don't earn much from consumer (taking away the newly introduced "no more 20 days interest free period" by Bank Negara).

However, the bank stands to earn a whopping 4.5% to 5% of total amount swiped for Ezy Pay as compare to 2% (in some cases I know some merchants get charged 1.2%) for normal transactions. And, if you read the T&C even more closely you'll realize some bank imposed hefty penalty to card holder for late payment as compare to normal transactions.

So next time if you swipe for Ezy Pay 0% scheme, bare in mind that the merchant will charge you the additional 5% as "handling fee" or "processing fee" or they have had that 5% built into the price.

My experience was, when I bought my 37" LCD TV a year ago, the listed price tag was RM3299. After much negotiation, the ultimate best negotiated price was RM3000 flat with Ezy Pay. In the end I paid RM2800 cash for the TV. At the end of the day, with consumer goods profit margins so thin, merchants will have to build in what ever fees and charges that banks imposed on them and pass it to the consumer.....

@Hybz,
Was it U who said U needed/wanted a CC before U go overseas sometime mid-end of August?!  If so, I thought U'd oredi put ur application in.

Should have taken the opportunity to put in the application during the MBB TreatFair - approval apparently was granted within 3hrs.

no. it's officially 60 minutes approval. but due to too many applicants, it's become 60 + 30 minutes. haha.
the actual card can get within 1 week. i got mine already.

hi, which credit card offers low charges overseas transactions? thanks

edit: is it only CIMB and UOB? any no commitment free for life card from them? thanks
*
no commitment free for life? then it would be Direct Access. truly free for life.
UOB is "free for life" which is required u to commits 6 transactions per card per year. (u will getting ur Visa n Master 2 cards together, can not cancel either 1, else no "free for life") tongue.gif

@Hybz,
Oh. I think U read wrongly; I was referring to applications made during the MBB TreatFair that was held 2 weeks ago @ MV. Unfortunately that's over and done with now.

I wouldn't know how to help U out but I think U'd better start putting ur application in - is there a specific date U need the CC by?

@muscaa,
You're right - most of the time the banks don't reveal the reason for rejecting your application.
