Stanchart charges me regularly for their credit cards, I usually call them to waive. They were reluctant to waive it last year even after spending well into the 6 digits with their card so I said I'll cancel. Then they waived it. I stopped using Stanchart after that...

About the credit card new charges, it's simple. There are two "privileges" now, lower interest rate and the 20-day interest free period.

Lower interest rate (15-17%): only applies if you haven't been late in the past 12 months

20-day interest free: only applies if you paid your previous statement balance fully

You can get either one or both depending on your payment record.

let say i'm a new card user, which one will apply to me ??

Me also just terminated my Maybank card. The service is so bad, its totally unbelievable. They are the equavalent of Drama Minggu Ini over at RTM once upon a time. If the market becomes more open with the encroachment of globalisation, their days are most definitely numbered.

MBB Ikhwan Amex CC sounds really good. Unfortunately I'm not able to meet the income requirement sad.gif
*
not necessarily u must meet rm30k per annum... it stated "To be eligible to apply for an Ikhwan card, your income level should average about RM30k per annum"

my salary also below rm30k per annum but my application for petronas visa (which required rm30k per annum) was approved...

This was posted three months ago but i would like to clarify something. What said above is not true. I have used my StanChart Debit Mastercard to pay for petrol since i opened the account early this year and i'm given about RM20 - RM30 rebate each month.
*
from what i know, for their current promotion of "* 7% petrol rebate is valid at all petrol kiosk island pumps from 7 July to 31 December 2008." is for eSaver account opened during the promotion period (7julyto31Dec) only...so i stop filling petrol using my standard chartered debit mastercard (i opened the account in the year 2007)....

when u opened ur account ? now still got rebate if opened account outside the promotion date ?? if like that wanna swicth back from maybank petronas to std chtd debit mastercard....

i dont think the is real
i applied the card and scb give me a visa electron and i use it for petrol pump..then no rebate.
i call them up, they said it must be a master debit and said soon i will get that card in order to get the discount.
5 months already no discount. the account remain not activite.
stupid strategy
*
its real...i did receive the rebates earlier this year. But when they said the promotion (7% rebate) are now only for account open between the promotion period (7july-31dec2008), so switch my petrol payment using maybank petronas (5x treatspoint) or direct access or shell citibank

so is it true the promotion 7% rebate for std chtrd mastercard still applicable for customer open their account outside the promotion period ?
